Sunset Sound 2025: Record-Breaking Summer at #WestfieldShoppingCitySüd! This summer, the Multiplex Terrassen came alive every Friday for six weekends of free open-air concerts drawing an incredible crowd of around 12,000 visitors, making it the biggest edition yet! Local favourites like Rian, Conchita Wurst, Tagträumer, and more lit up the stage, bringing pop, rock, disco, and international flair to the audience. From the opening weekend to the grand finale, every performance had the crowd dancing, singing along, and soaking up the vibrant festival atmosphere. The evenings combined energy, entertainment, and engagement. With an expanded culinary and leisure offering and perfect weather, the terraces became a true festival hub—blending music, food, and fun into one unique experience. #BetterPlaces: clean energy from the parking lot - #WestfieldShoppingCitySüd launches new solar carport. Turning parking spaces into solar power plants! With this innovative and sustainable concept, the Province of Lower Austria kicked off a forward-looking initiative in 2023 - aimed at using already sealed surfaces for clean energy production. As one of the first project partners, Westfield Shopping City Süd is leading the way in sustainable and innovative energy solutions. The carport PV system at Entrance 8, featuring 169 covered parking spaces, is now operational and generates approximately 450,000 kilowatt-hours of clean electricity per year. With the commissioning of this first system, the starting signal has also been given for the expansion at Entrance 9, where an additional 150 parking spaces will be covered. The second system will be similar in size, comprising around 1,300 PV panels and reaching a peak output of nearly 500 kilowatt-peak. The total investment amounts to approximately €1.2 million. The project is co-funded by the Province of Lower Austria. During his visit, Deputy Governor Dr. Stephan Pernkopf emphasized the importance of this initiative and expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming expansion. #WestfieldDonauZentrum sets new standards and expands its fashion portfolio. Stradivarius, PULL&BEAR, New Yorker and Pepe Jeans London join the line-up with impressive flagship stores. With the arrival of Stradivarius, Westfield Donau Zentrum has become the only shopping center in Austria to feature four Inditex brands under one roof – in addition to Pull&Bear, also Bershka and the country’s largest Zara. These additions follow a series of recent openings that have significantly enhanced the product and brand mix - including HARIBO International’s first full-price store in Austria, global luggage leader Samsonite, lifestyle retailer YOYOSO, and premium liquorice brand LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW. The retail mix is further complemented by the arrival of #MassShoes and significant store expansions from JACK & JONES and ONLY BRAND HOUSE, while BESTSELLER also further expands its presence with Only & Sons, opening in October 2025. Each year, the #CommunityWeek at #WestfieldDonauZentrum and #WestfieldShoppingCitySüd encourages our teams to participate in various charitable activities to support local communities. Our teams at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Austria once again showed that meaningful engagement goes beyond our shopping destinations. Across several initiatives, our colleagues volunteered their time, energy and passion to support local organizations and made a real difference. At Westfield Donau Zentrum, our employees joined forces with #SOMA, the social market, to help restock shelves and label goods for people in need. Others supported the #Samariterwagerl initiative by Samariterbund Wien – actively encouraging shoppers to donate food and hygiene products for those who need them most. In partnership with Caritas Österreich, we also contributed to their #WÖRKEREI project, where our teams worked side by side with participants to create bags made from recycled materials. Additionally, we supported a Caritas sales booth at Westfield Donau Zentrum, assisting with product sales and customer interaction. Meanwhile, at Westfield Shopping City Süd, our teams joined a local clean-up effort together with #PlanetMatters, collecting waste in nearby communities. The collected plastic waste found a new purpose during our #WestfieldGoodFestival, where it was reused creatively and sustainably. Once again, the #SCSRun presented by Raiffeisen Bank International AG turned #WestfieldShoppingCitySüd into Austria’s most vibrant and unique running track – setting a new participation record in the process! 💨🏃♂️ A total of 1,400 runners from 29 nations – from casual joggers to Olympic athletes like #JuliaMayer – transformed Westfield Shopping City Süd into a hub of community, energy, and shared passion. For the first time, official rankings were awarded in every age group, ensuring that even the youngest athletes had the chance to stand on the podium and celebrate. The course itself was a true highlight: from 150-meter kids’ sprints to 15-kilometer challenges – and a spectacular 900-meter indoor section weaving through the center, the longest of its kind in Austria. Thanks to waterdrop® and #Oleovital, everyone stayed hydrated and energized. And with the adidas Test & Try station and a lively entertainment program, it wasn’t just about the race – it was a celebration of movement and community spirit. A big thank you to everyone who made this event such a success. #BetterPlaces: A strong commitment to the energy transition – right on our doorstep! ☀️⚡ Our sustainability journey continues. In addition to our existing rooftop photovoltaic system, we’ve now installed a new solar carport system with a capacity of 477 kWp at our east parking area. This state-of-the-art installation at Westfield Shopping City Süd not only turns parking spaces into real power plants and provides shade for our visitors – it also marks another clear commitment to our ESG strategy. This project was made possible thanks to the excellent collaboration with our partner 10hoch4 Energiesysteme – and through the valuable support and funding from the State of Lower Austria. And we’re not stopping here: A second construction phase is already firmly planned and will be completed by the end of the year, further boosting our share of on-site renewable energy production. With the comprehensive evolution of our Better Places roadmap, we at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield aim to accelerate, setting ambitious new targets in terms of carbon emission reduction and environmental performance, and to develop and operate places that provide sustainable experiences and contribute to thriving communities. A new milestone for #WestfieldShoppingCitySüd on their sustainability journey! We are proud to announce that Westfield Shopping City Süd, Austria’s largest and most diverse shopping destination, has been awarded the #BetterPlacesCertification – the first comprehensive sustainability standard for shopping centers, developed by Bureau Veritas Solutions in partnership with WWF France. The certification recognizes outstanding performance across ecological and social dimensions, including water consumption, biodiversity, energy and climate, waste management, mobility, health and safety, sustainable consumption, and community initiatives. It also integrates recognized benchmarks such as BREEAM In-Use and energy performance indicators. This achievement reflects the dedication of our teams and the strength of our Better Places strategy – our commitment to creating more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative places that positively impact the communities we serve. To mark this milestone, distinguished guests including Lower Austria’s Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, State Secretary Elisabeth Zehetner, member of the state parliament Marlene Zeidler-Beck , Mayor of Vösendorf Birgit Petross and Representative of the French Embassy in Vienna Monsieur Frédéric JOUREAU were welcomed at Westfield Shopping City Süd, where a high-level panel of experts from real estate, academia, and law explored the role of the property sector in achieving climate goals – even in economically challenging times.
