The Australian Government has backed Vertiia once again, with a new $3 million grant to develop and demonstrate liquid hydrogen-powered aircraft for regional and remote Australia. Thank you to the Department of Industry Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P) Program for its support for the two-year $7.56 million project, called Liquid Hydrogen Powered Aircraft for Regional and Remote Australia. Thank you also to our partners FABRUM., Monash University, and Deakin University. AMSL Aero chairman Chris Smallhorn spoke to Forge, a quarterly magazine that shines a spotlight on Australia’s economic and entrepreneurial successes, about how Vertiia is attracting interest from additional investors due to its superior range, speed, efficiency and zero-emissions capability. Vertiia will be used as an air ambulance and revolutionise passenger and cargo transit in regional areas. We are delighted with the landmark partnership between Australian, US, UK, Canadian and New Zealand regulators to harmonise certification standards for eVTOLs, the next generation of electric aircraft that take off and land like a helicopter but fly fast and smoothly like a fixed-wing airplane. The National Aviation Authorities (NAA) Network’s new roadmap will lead to mutual acceptance of certifications, meaning an eVTOL like Vertiia approved in one member country could be swiftly recognised by the others. As we step up our development towards Australian certification of Vertiia, we congratulate the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for joining its peers in these four other leading aviation markets to streamline the certification and validation process for eVTOLs across international boundaries. This is substantial for the industry.
