Last week, APRA Deputy Chair Margaret Cole addressed the Financial Services Council’s Innovation in Retirement conference in Sydney, outlining APRA’s priorities for the superannuation industry as it navigates a state of change. In her remarks, Ms Cole highlighted three forces shaping the superannuation industry: · Australia’s ageing population · Continued strong growth in superannuation assets · Super’s increasing significance to the broader financial system She also underscored the importance of robust retirement income strategies, noting that: 💡“One in five funds have more than half of their members in or approaching retirement. Over the next 20 years, this is expected to rise to around two in five.” With retirement-phase assets projected to grow from $575 billion to $3 trillion over the next two decades, trustees will need to be prepared to manage the significant risks that this represents, including cyber, operational, investment and liquidity risks. 📄 Read the full speech: https://lnkd.in/eNffAgyX #RetirementOutcomes #FinancialStability #Superannuation #InnovationInRetirement
