Postie Wayne’s delivery round in 📮3338 Melton South took an unexpected turn last week, when he found a tiny baby bat clinging to its mum on the ground. He gently covered them using his parcel box and contacted local wildlife carers JABS Joey and Bat Sanctuary for help. Thanks to his quick thinking, the baby was rescued and the team at JABS named him Little Wayne in his honour. 🦇 This small act of compassion is a lovely reminder that community care comes in many forms - whether it’s helping a neighbour, supporting a customer, or, in this case, rescuing a little bat. Yesterday we received a photo update from JABS and are pleased to report that Little Wayne is growing well and loves his heartbeat teddy. A huge thank you to the incredible team at JABS Joey and Bat Sanctuary for everything they do to protect and rehabilitate Australia’s native wildlife. 💚 📸 JABS Joey and Bat Sanctuary #Posties #CommunityStories #WildlifeRescue #AusPost

Australia Post Group is investing nearly $500 million to build a state-of-the-art parcel facility in Adelaide – our largest ever investment in South Australia. 📦 Slated to be operational in 2028, the new facility is located in a key growth corridor of Elizabeth. Once online, it will be capable of processing up to 400,000 parcels per day, doubling current capacity and setting a new national benchmark for parcel operations. eCommerce growth is surging in South Australia. In the April–June quarter alone, online shopping in SA grew 8.9% year-on-year, with more and more households embracing digital retail. This facility is designed to meet that demand head on — helping us connect customers with their purchases faster and more reliably than ever before. 🌱 And it’s not just about speed. With a 5-star Green Star rating and advanced innovation and technology, this site will allow us to provide smarter, safer, and more sustainable deliveries. 💡 It’s also a blueprint for the future of our network – an example of how we’re meeting the evolving needs of businesses and communities across Australia. 🚦 Every week, at least five Posties are injured on the road 👋 Meet Emerson, one of our Victorian Posties delivering rain or shine. 💬 “We’re easy to spot in bright yellow but some people still don’t see us. Drivers are focused on where they’re going instead of who’s around them, so we have to stay alert and on our toes.” Last year, more than 280 Posties were injured in third-party traffic incidents - many caused by drivers failing to give way, overtaking too closely, or driving distracted. We’re investing in electric delivery vehicles, in-vehicle safety monitoring, and ongoing safety training to help keep our people safe. But road safety is something we all share. 🗨️ “Everyone needs to stay safe on the roads, whether you’re a Postie, a cyclist, a driver or a pedestrian.” 🛣️ Stay alert, and stay safe on the roads 📍 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gtRCnTTy
