  • Strengthening emergency resilience in Ballina Shire Ballina Shire Council, in partnership with NSW SES, is proud to announce a major investment in local emergency services – a new, purpose-built SES Unit and Emergency Operations Centre is set to be constructed in Ballina. Mayor Sharon Cadwallader was joined by Minister for Emergency Services Jihad Dib, NSW SES Commissioner Mike Wassing, local MPs, SES volunteers and Council staff to mark this important milestone. Designs are finalised, the tender process is complete, and construction is scheduled to commence in September 2025. Co-funded by Ballina Shire Council and the NSW Government, the facility will provide our 80+ SES volunteers with a modern, fit-for-purpose headquarters – improving response times, enhancing coordination during emergencies, and supporting our community when it matters most.
