About us
Blacktown City is the largest local government area in NSW with an estimated population of 450,000 residents and a projected population of 540,000 by 2041. Our 15 elected Councillors are supported by over 2,000 staff who cover administrative and outdoor activities. The day-to-day operations of Blacktown City are led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is the contact between the elected Councillors and Blacktown City’s administrative body. We have a strong team-based culture where people enjoy the work they do and the people they work with. We aim to have an equitable and diverse workplace. We continually strive to be a local government employer of choice. We offer a fair and flexible approach to work with wide-ranging staff benefits. We are proud to have been involved, as part of the Greater Sydney Heat Taskforce, in the creation of this world-class plan. Extreme heat has killed more Australians than fire, flood, and storms combined. This work will ensure that people living in Greater Sydney can survive and thrive in a warming climate and during extreme heat.
WINNERS ARE GRINNERS 🥇 | Resilient Australia Local Government Award 🟩 Winner: Heat Taskforce: Heat Smart City Plan - Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC). ☑️ Sydney’s first multi-sector plan for heat hazard developed by a collaboration of leaders across health, planning, infrastructure, emergency management, community and corporate sectors. The Blacktown local government area is one of the fastest-growing cities in Australia. Thousands of new families are choosing to live here, bringing energy and opportunity, but also placing greater demand on our roads, stormwater drains, parks, and shared community spaces. This growth is exciting, but it is also placing real pressure on Council and our ability to serve a rapidly growing city. Council has arranged this ‘town hall’ format information session for community members to learn about Council’s proposed Special Rate Variation. The session will provide information on why a Special Rate Variation is needed, what it will be used for and how much it will cost ratepayers. This session is designed to consult with the community and as part of this session, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback. We encourage you to register to attend this event to come along and participate in this public consultation with the Mayor and Council staff about the plans for the future for Blacktown City. As we have limited places available, registrations to attend this forum are strictly required. Date: Thursday 2 October 2025 Time: 6:30 pm – 8 pm Location: Blacktown Civic Centre, 62 Flushcombe Road, Blacktown, NSW, 2148 Register to attend: https://lnkd.in/gzA4ZuYj You can also have your say online: https://lnkd.in/gm_-dVfC
