You can't be what you can't see. We showcase leading women in tech and create coding career pathways for women.

About us

Code Like a Girl is a social enterprise providing women and non-binary folk with the confidence, tools, knowledge and support to enter and flourish in the world of code. It’s not just about women in tech, it’s about women building tech. We need diversity of experiences, perspectives and stories to build a world that is more empathetic, innovative and equal. As our lives become more and more technology-driven, it’s more important than ever to ensure that the technology being built serves each and every person. And the only way to guarantee our technology delivers is to ensure we have diversity within the coders creating that technology.

💜 BIG love to our mentors + mentees who made our 2025 Mentorship program such a success. This one-of-a-kind mentorship program connects technical professionals based on shared goals, lived experience, and the challenges that matter most. This year we matched 100 mentors & mentees across Australia and 80% of mentees left with greater career clarity 🌱 Your stories, advice, and questions remind us why we do this 🙌

Last month we marked 10 years since our very first Code Like a Girl event 💕 It was so special celebrating with past-CLG-ers, students, interns, sponsors and friends last night. What began at Inspire9 in Richmond, Melbourne in 2015 has grown into: 👩💻 200 women placed into software dev roles 🎓 Thousands taught in camps & courses 🤝 Countless friendships, mentorships & connections Through it all, our mission has stayed the same: empowering women & girls not just to work in tech, but to shape it as the architects, the coders and creators of tomorrow. To every partner, mentor, volunteer and community member who’s been part of this journey, thank you. Truly 😭 ❤️ 🙏 Here’s to the next chapter 🥂

  • 🚨 New data just dropped: and it’s not business as usual. The TechReflects study gives us the clearest picture yet of who’s in tech in Australia and who’s still missing out. Spoiler: trust is low, representation is patchy, and we’ve got serious work to do.  Read it. Share it. Use it to push for better 👊 #TechDiversity - 10 Year Anniversary https://lnkd.in/dPJ7N9Ax

A woman in tech on the Met Gala carpet? Yes, please. Tech entrepreneur and philanthropist Mona Patel rocked the carpet in a custom Thom Browne suit, complete with a 3D-printed hat and a robotic dachshund named Vector. The tailored suit paid homage to her father's influence and the legacy of Black and Indian craftsmanship. The incorporation of technology—from the robotic dog to the 3D-printed accessories—reflects her background in healthcare and AI, as well as her commitment to pushing the boundaries of fashion. This isn’t the first time Mona Patel brought tech to the red carpet. At last year’s Met Gala, she wore a custom Iris van Herpen gown adorned with kinetic butterflies that fluttered as she moved. What a brilliant fusion of couture, technology, and storytelling! #WomenEmpoweringWomenWednesday #WomenInAI #MetGala https://bit.ly/4dqx1jr

The generosity of this network never ceases to amaze me… SO I’m back with another little ask 🙏 Code Like a Girl’s 2025 mentorship program is open for applications, and we’re looking for technical mentors 👀 We’d love to hear from you if: ✨ You’ve got solid experience in tech or a specialised area (whether it’s 1 year or 20, you’ve got value to share) ✨ You genuinely care about helping others grow and can create a safe, supportive vibe ✨ You’re a great listener and communicator. You’re curious, thoughtful, and respectful ✨ We welcome mentors of all genders, our community is stronger with diversity. — A huge thank you to everyone who’s already put their hand up from engineers at Atlassian, Canva, TikTok, REA Group, Adore Beauty and Macquarie, to tech leads and specialists at Westpac, Commonwealth Bank, EY, and the ABS. This year’s shaping up to be something truly special. If mentoring isn’t for you right now, no worries at all. Sharing this with someone who might be keen helps just as much. ❤️
