Together, we strengthened interoperability and reaffirmed our shared commitment to a peaceful and secure Indo-Pacific. • Friendly match in Dili celebrates lasting legacy ⚽ Twenty-six years ago, a special bond between Timor-Leste and Australia was created with the arrival of the INTERFET peacekeeping mission, which assisted the Timorese people in building a free and independent nation. A new generation of Timorese and Australian soldiers forged friendships through a more peaceful struggle on the soccer pitch and futsal courts. They competed in the annual Xanana-Cosgrove Shield, commemorating the foundation of Timor-Leste and the role Australia and other INTERFET nations played. The matches on the INTERFET anniversary were the capstone of Indo-Pacific Endeavour Timor-Leste. The program featured a Women, Peace and Security workshop, community engagement, and sport and faith-based activities delivered in partnership with the F-FDTL. Indo-Pacific Endeavour is Australia’s flagship regional engagement activity supporting the Australian Government’s focus on deepening diplomatic and defence partnerships across South-East Asia and the north-east Indian Ocean. • Officers and sailors from HMAS Ballarat held a navigation and communications workshop at 📍 Ream Naval Base in Cambodia, during a port visit as part of Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2025. Teams from the Royal Australian Navy and the #RoyalCambodianNavy quickly integrated, splitting into smaller groups to share knowledge and experience regarding standard operating procedures for navigation and communicating via flags at sea. The event was highly successful, with strong engagement and cooperation between the two nations. 📸 SBLT Jake Badior #YourADF #AusNavy

  • Of the nearly one million Australians who served in World War 2, Keith Fitzpatrick was believed to be among the last 1300 with lived experience of that conflict – a number now smaller following his death at the age of 101 in June. Father to a serving Australian Army officer and grandfather to one of Air Force’s newest members, they remember him for his love of horseracing, his off-key singing, and the few stories they learned from his WW2 service. His son, Major Mike Fitzpatrick, of the Defence Force School of Music, said it was Keith’s post-war service in Army that he spoke of most fondly – including his role in the Australian Army contingent at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation and his time training national servicemen through the 1950s and ‘60s. • All eyes were on the main arena at the Perth Royal Show recently when the Australian Defence Force took centre stage to mark the Show’s annual Defence and Veterans’ Day. Soldiers from the Australian Army’s 13th Brigade wowed crowds with a section attack capability demonstration, that was kicked off in spectacular fashion with a Hawk-127 flypast from the Royal Australian Air Force’s No. 79 Squadron. 🎯 🎪 🛩️ This year marked the official launch of the Defence Hub at the Show – a one-stop-shop for the community to interact with Defence personnel and to better support public understanding of its roles and capability. The Defence Hub also featured important support networks for ADF personnel and veterans alike, including RSL WA, Legacy, Defence Community Dogs, as well as Disaster Relief Australia and the Australian Army Museum of Western Australia. 📷 CPL Nakia Chapman Read more ➡️ http://spr.ly/6043AxsF5 #YourADF
