This new video follows up on a post we brought you earlier this week – the beautiful story of how one of EMHS’ amazing nurses helped save a man’s life while was she was on her way to work. Royal Perth Hospital Acting Nurse Unit Manager Emma Fowler helped save Sergio Margio’s life last December, after he was found slumped over the wheel of his truck and later went into cardiac arrest. Thanks to Emma’s first aid heroics – alongside several police officers who were also on the scene – Sergio survived. Last week, Emma and the officers were honoured with Royal Life Saving Society WA Bravery Awards for their heroic actions. We hope you enjoy watching this video which captures Emma's amazing bravery 😊

The High Acuity Care Enhancement (HACE) Project is underway at EMHS, focusing on improving care for critically ill patients across Royal Perth, Bentley and Armadale Hospitals. Using a data-driven, service redesign approach, HACE is examining every stage of the patient journey, from the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit to specialised teams, to make care safer, more consistent and increasingly effective. By understanding staff, consumer and executive insights, the project is focused on ensuring solutions are practical, sustainable and impactful. By combining technology, innovation and expertise, EMHS is leading the way in high acuity care and putting its commitment to “excellence” into action.

An incredible moment of bravery and reunion ❤️ Catch this touching story from 9 News featuring our very own Royal Perth Hospital nurse, Emma Fowler, who helped save a man’s life last December. Emma, along with five WA Police officers, was honoured with a Royal Life Saving Society WA Bravery Award for her heroic actions in helping save Sergio Margio. The awards ceremony at Kings Park brought about an emotional reunion between Sergio and the team who helped save him, a powerful reminder of the impact of courage, compassion, and quick action. 👏 A huge congratulations once again to Emma and the officers. We’re so proud! #RoyalPerthHospital #HeroicCare #BraveryAward #WAPolice #LifeSaving #RPHHeroes #9News #RoyalLifeSavingWA

What a fantastic day at Armadale Hospital on Wednesday, where EMHS hosted a very successful Aboriginal Careers Expo! The expo was well attended, with close to 30 people registering. The attendees were able to meet face to face with key Armadale Hospital staff members from various departments – including finance and security - about future career opportunities. Some of our current Indigenous staff members including Linen Department worker Gailena Eades, who has spent 15 years with Armadale Hospital, gave inspiring and moving speeches about their journey with EMHS. The expo – the second such event EMHS has held in the past several weeks – is part of a new campaign to attract and support more Aboriginal people to our health service. We will have more exciting footage to share from yesterday’s event very soon, so be sure to stay tuned! #EMHS #ArmadaleHospital #CareersExpo #Employment

It’s National Anaesthesia Day and the team at Armadale Hospital need many hands to complete all the tasks to care for you before, during and after your surgery. It’s the anniversary of the day in 1846 that ether anaesthetic was first demonstrated in Boston, Massachusetts. Australia and New Zealand are two of the safest places in the world to have an anaesthetic, performed by highly trained specialist doctors. After medical school they do two years as a junior doctor, then at least five more years of training to become a specialist anaesthetist. The 25 or so anaesthetists and 15 technicians at Armadale know that every patient is different, every anaesthetic is different and your treatment will be modified according to your specific needs. Pictured here are some of our Armadale Anaesthesia team members Ayesha Noor Mohamed, Vanessa Percival, Liz Rutherford, Jade Zhou and Sarojini Jagadish.

🌟 ACHSM Member Spotlight: Ben Noteboom, FCHSM CHE 🌟 We’re proud to kick off our new ACHSM Spotlight Series — celebrating the remarkable leaders who shape and strengthen our College community. Meet Ben Noteboom, ACHSM WA Branch Councillor and Executive Director, Royal Perth Bentley Group – East Metropolitan Health Service. “I joined ACHSM in 2015 as I stepped from full-time clinical work into management and leadership — a turning point where I wanted to grow beyond the bedside and influence health care more broadly. ACHSM offered rich professional development and learning opportunities that helped me build the knowledge and confidence to lead effectively.” As a Certified Health Executive (CHE), Ben highlights the power of connection and lifelong learning: “The professional development is high calibre, accessible, and practical — from networking events to webinars and conferences. But even more valuable are the relationships and networks I’ve built. When I stepped away from bedside clinical work, I felt like I’d lost my ‘tribe.’ ACHSM gave me a new one — a community of health leaders to learn from, connect with, and grow alongside.” 👏 We thank Ben for his dedication to advancing leadership in health service management and for being an inspiring voice within our College. Stay tuned — this is just the beginning of our series spotlighting the incredible individuals who drive ACHSM forward. #ACHSM #HealthLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #HealthcareManagement #LeadershipCommunity #ACHSMWA

Today is Emergency Nurses Day - and so what better time to give our incredible ED Nurses a huge shoutout! Emergency Nurses Day is observed annually on the second Wednesday of October every year. As we all know, nursing is a profession that demands both compassion and skill, and emergency nurses in particular face intense challenges throughout their shifts in a fast-paced environment. This day is part of Emergency Nurses Week, a broader celebration dedicated to recognising the vital contributions of these healthcare professionals. Pictured here are some of our brilliant ED nurses working at Armadale Hospital. What a bunch of legends!
