The Brains Trust in action 🧠 Geodynamic fluid model outputs are demonstrating how hydrogen and helium could flow into PEL 691's northern area of interest and specifically drill targets identified to date. 📸 Louis Moresi from The Australian National University presents his geodynamic model to H2EX and University of Adelaide. The model has been developed from new data we collected in 2023-2024 resulting in detailed fault mapping. The partners are currently completing face-to-face workshops in Adelaide to deliver our final Australian Government grant project milestone; identifying drillable targets. #naturalhydrogen #hydrogenexploration #geologichydrogen Cooperative Research Australia ANU Research School of Earth Sciences AuScope

About us
H2EX is an active natural hydrogen and helium explorer in South Australia. We are proud to be the first natural hydrogen company to receive an Australian Government grant to 'Accelerate the Exploration and Extraction of Renewable Natural Hydrogen' (CRC-P Round 14). The Project will unlock important first-mover benefits for Australia within an emerging sector globally and create substantial economic opportunities, while retaining Australia's competitive advantage and highly regarded technical and engineering expertise. Follow our progress as we develop the blueprint for natural hydrogen exploration. H2EX has an exploration license located on the Eyre Peninsula which totals 6,000km2; PEL 691. H2EX is the first-ranked applicant for 6 applications totaling 52,000km2. These applications are the pre-cursor to a license, requiring agreement with Native Title groups prior to license award; PELA 689, 690, 717, 718, 725 and 754. Natural hydrogen will provide a clean and low-cost energy solution, manufactured by Mother Nature.

Our kinesthetic approach to building an exploration portfolio involves a roll-up your sleeves, boots on the ground style. And we’ve learned a lot! At H2EX Ltd we don’t pontificate on it, we do it. 4 years of active exploration has resulted in a 🥇World leading company in natural hydrogen exploration methods 💡Attracting the best and brightest academic and industry partners; and 💵 Funding support from the Australian Federal Government Co-founder Mark Hanna and I personally oversee operations on the Eyre Peninsula. Corporate governance extends beyond the boardroom. We love pursuing excellence in the field to maximise shareholder value. #naturalhydrogen #hydrogenexploration #eyrepeninsula #geologichydrogen

At H2EX Ltd we have been using magnetotulleric and passive seismic (ambient noise tomography) surveys to develop a portfolio of leads and prospects since mid 2023. We are seeing other researchers, service providers and explorers sit up and take notice of this exploration model. Hard rock miners have used these techniques for years. So far we have done 6 seperate ANT surveys with the largest being a 2,500 km2 grid over the northern section of PEL691. Then a series of smaller infill grids. 3 MT surveys over the same area has given us a plethora of geophysical data to map and validate findings. With tens of mining bores, core samples, geological surface mapping, gas soil sampling and fluid inclusion work we are developing a multi layered and large 3D model defining different plays and drill targets. A data miner and explorers treasure chest. Feeling very proud of our team’s disciplined and scientific approach to developing potential hydrogen/helium drill targets and using techniques not typical for gas exploration. Twinning wells, where previous hydrogen was historically found, is an approach, in our case developing a bottoms-up, systematic and data driven exploration portfolio is another. Exciting to be on the cusp of a burgeoning hydrogen and helium exploration industry here in Australia 🇦🇺 Advance Australia 🇦🇺 #geologicalhydrogen #nautralhydrogen #whitehydrogen #hydrogenexploration #hydrogen #h2

As we finalise our drill ready targets, H2EX has also completed a drilling and completion technology assessment for a natural hydrogen/helium exploration well. Our CRCP partner Black & Veatch completed this study, an engineering firm with a 110 year history. The study included: material selection; safety; drilling and well design plan with a Class 4 cost estimate. The well design will test targets to a depth of 800 to 2,400 metres. It includes production testing and contingency cost estimates. Exploration Manager, Daniel Dawson, Ph.D. said, “H2EX is well positioned to make a disciplined future drilling decision given the combination of this feasibility assessment by Black & Veatch, along with the plethora of subsurface data acquired and interpreted over the course of our Federal Government grant project.” Background: H2EX has been exploring on PEL 691 since June 2022. As at Q1 2025, a suite of geophysical, geochemical and geologic studies were completed covering 2,500 km2 of its 6,000km2 exploration license. #naturalhydrogen #geologicalhydrogen #hydrogenexploration #heliumexploration #exploration

We are grateful to the Eyre Peninsula District Councils, private landowners and local H2EX Field Crew and Managers who have supported our exploration activities over 2023 and 2024. Some of the private landowners are 5th-6th generation farmers and true-blue Aussie legends! 🇦🇺 During 2025 we are coalescing the acquired data, working cross functionally at Perth, Adelaide and Canberra with our academic partners University of Adelaide and The Australian National University to identify drillable targets. #naturalhydrogen #hydrogenexploration #eyrepeninsula #geologichydrogen

H2EX is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Dawson, Ph.D. as Exploration Manager. Dr Dawson has been working with H2EX since October 2023. He is a senior geoscientist with 17 years of oil and gas exploration, development, and production experience. He has worked on subsurface evaluations of ~40 basins in 20 countries. Dr Dawson spent 14 years with Woodside, primarily assisting exploration teams with the development of leads and prospects for potential drilling, and post-well analysis of drilled prospects. Dr Dawson complements his work using modern data science techniques. Prior to this, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of Applied Chemistry at Curtin University. He holds a BSc (Applied Chemistry) with First Class Honours and a PhD in organic and stable isotope geochemistry from Curtin University.

🔬 Hydrogen detected in historical drill cores 🔬 We attended the South Australia Drill Core Library and Challenger Geological Services Pty Ltd in November 2024 to inspect and sample core from mineral and petroleum drillholes located within our license PEL 691 on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. 30 samples from 15 drillholes have been subjected to fluid inclusion analysis, and 23 samples (77%) had detectable hydrogen gas. To our knowledge these are the first subsurface detections of hydrogen on the Eyre Peninsula which, in addition to positive soil-gas sampling carried out in 2023, indicates a natural hydrogen generation system. Further geological and geochemical analysis of the samples is in progress, stay tuned for updates! #naturalhydrogen #hydrogenexploration #geologichydrogen #fluidinclusion #goldhydrogen #whitehydrogen

🌍 Natural #Hydrogen: Clean Energy Hiding Beneath Our Feet? ⚡ 🔬 PhD candidate Ian Rogers is undertaking research at The University of Western Australia (UWA) in collaboration with CSIRO, and H2EX Ltd, exploring how natural hydrogen (H₂) forms, migrates, and accumulates in South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. With H₂ exploration still in its infancy, understanding these processes is crucial for unlocking its potential as a sustainable energy source. 🔎 Ian’s work will combine field studies, lab analysis, and experimental simulations to better understand hydrogen-rich geological settings. A primary aim is to advance exploration strategies and help position natural hydrogen as a viable clean energy solution.
