Housing Australia is pleased to support Housing Choices Australia to deliver 121 new social and affordable homes in Adelaide with $56.7 million from the National Housing Infrastructure Facility’s Social and Affordable Housing program (NHIF SAH). The NHIF SAH funding will support the construction of 101 affordable and 20 social homes in Eastwood, Adelaide, with the site conveniently located close to employment, education, health and transport. The Wirra Mikangka housing development, which means ‘before the forest’ in Kaurna language, is expected to commence construction in coming months and is due to reach practical completion in 2027. Wirra Mikangka will also provide 30 market rental properties on site. Works commenced on 83 new social and affordable family homes in Maribyrnong on Wednesday, with Federal Housing Minister Clare O'Neil and Victorian Assistant Treasurer Dr Daniel Mulino picking-up shovels on the first day of construction. Housing Australia representatives were on-site to mark the sod turn where 48 social homes and 35 affordable homes are being built for vulnerable families and Australians in need, with funding from the Housing Australia Future Fund Facility (HAFFF).

Following a comprehensive market search, Housing Australia is delighted to welcome Pretar Caroline Harris I MAICD as our Chief Investment Officer, More Homes. Pretar leads the teams responsible for designing, delivering, and managing funding solutions that support our partners in increasing the supply of social and affordable housing. Pretar brings over 20 years of real estate investment and development experience across Australia, Asia and the Middle East, with a strong track record in private credit, portfolio and asset management, and large-scale residential and mixed-use developments. Her previous leadership roles at Brookfield Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, Lendlease, and Aldar Properties have equipped her with deep expertise in structuring complex transactions, managing diverse property portfolios, and delivering impactful housing projects across global markets. Pretar's leadership and expertise will be instrumental in driving our mission to expand access to social and affordable housing through innovative funding and delivery models. We also congratulate Michael Camerlengo on his appointment as Executive Leader, Clients and Capital and Deputy Chief Investment Officer, More Homes. As a corporate and project finance specialist, Michael has played a key role in advancing our Housing Capital Solutions and Partnerships business over the past 12 months and brings deep expertise in infrastructure finance and project development from his previous leadership roles at KPMG in China and Australia as Partner and Head of Government Sector for the Asia Pacific region. Together, Pretar and Michael will lead our investment efforts to deliver more homes for Australians.
