AI is reshaping international education, but as Chamalee Karunanayake Partnerships Director, APAC, reminded us today at the Australian International Education Conference (AIEC), it’s not just about technology. AI gives us insights and efficiency, but the real magic happens when data meets empathy, when technology supports human connection to help students make confident, informed choices. Chamalee was joined by Simon D. from New Zealand’s The University of Waikato. With just five student ambassadors, the university put the human element first, embedding their storytelling into webinars and nurture emails. Amplifying their voices with technology drove a more than 200 per cent increase in international enrolments, their highest on record. The Ambassador Platform #AIEC2025 #IntlEd #GlobalEd
Great to see PRATIBHA SEN Director – Australia and New Zealand (South Asia) sharing her insights today at the Australian International Education Conference (AIEC). Pratibha unpacked how recent policy changes have shaped the way students in India view Australia, drawing on visa lodgment trends, enquiry data, and feedback from our counsellors across the region. At IDP, we're proud to contribute to important conversations like this, sharing our global insights and collaborating with colleagues and partners to strengthen Australia’s reputation as a world-class study destination. #AIEC2025 #IntlEd #StudentInsights
We are excited to launch our latest Emerging Futures, Voice of the International Student research findings. In this survey, nearly 8,000 students tell us about their motivations and perceptions of international education. Key findings show affordability pressures of international education persist, but communication of policies is now critical to sustaining trust in top study destinations. Also in this survey, we asked students about their perceptions of government communications regarding international student visas and arrival processes. We also explored how soon prospective students intend to apply for their international education experience and the top reasons given by students who are declining to study internationally at all. Australia has always been a country that prospers when it looks outward. Today, at a time of sharp political debate and short-term fixes, we need to lift our gaze. International education is not a footnote to economic policy. It is a nation-building strategy. ~Jane Li of IDP Education Ltd https://vist.ly/49wz7

Quality has always been central to IDP, and recent changes in the sector gave us an opportunity to examine our practices more closely. In 2024, we made a public commitment to the British Council’s Agent Quality Framework (AQF). The introduction of the Basic Compliance Assessment (BCA) then encouraged us to review every part of our recruitment approach, to confirm that quality runs through everything we do. As our Chief Partner Officer, Simon Emmett, writes this week in Wonkhe: “We are in this for the right reasons, that is, the right students, with the right standards and intentions, going to the right universities to complete their studies while living and thriving in our towns and cities. But it’s our hope that by being public about our official compliance, we can encourage others to do the same.” Students place their trust in us when they choose to study overseas. Upholding that trust is a responsibility shared across the whole sector. Read Simon’s full article on Wonkhe: https://lnkd.in/eMyx4iyg
