💧 Next stop in our once-in-a-generation water infrastructure investment We are making significant progress on delivering our water and sewer program of works and the next project on the list is a new water treatment plant for Crescent Head. This project follows recently completed upgrades at Crescent Head wastewater treatment plant. The new Crescent Head water treatment plant will: ✅ improve the quality and security of drinking water for residents and visitors ✅ support population growth and tourism in one of the Mid North Coast’s most iconic destinations ✅ provide a modern, sustainable approach to water treatment This project is proudly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments in association with Kempsey Shire Council. This is one of three new water treatment plants in our program, with work already underway at Willawarrin and Steuart McIntyre Dam.

Friday marked the beginning of construction on the new $53 million Steuart McIntyre Dam Water Treatment Plant— a project that will secure safer, more reliable drinking water for over 18,000 residents across Kempsey, Frederickton, Smithtown, Gladstone and surrounding communities. 💧 The project will: - Reduce risks to water safety, security and sustainability and improve drinking water supply. - Increase the reliability of drinking water when supply from Sherwood bores is restricted during drought. - Reduce operational and maintenance costs associated with water carting and provide a safer work environment. A major upgrade to Crescent Head’s only wastewater treatment plant has been successfully completed, reinforcing vital infrastructure for the local community. Supported by funding from the NSW Government in partnership with Council, the project replaced key components of the ageing wastewater treatment plant, delivering modern and durable infrastructure to meet current and future demands. The next water and sewer project on the to do list for Crescent Head is building a new water treatment plant. The planning phase of the project is almost complete and we will be able to share more information about the design and construction of the new plant soon. The project is part of Council’s broader Water and Sewer Program of Works, a once-in-a-generation investment in the shire’s essential service infrastructure.
