"Right now, we've got critical minerals and high-tech metal projects that are ready to go in this state. If we can get that capital on board, that investment, these projects will be bringing billions of dollars to NSW and make a major difference to the global economy." - NSW Premier Chris Minns It was great to see such a strong showing of government support at day 1 of IMARC, right here in Sydney. The Premier spoke candidly about the need for more forward thinking planning systems, how vital investment is to grow our industry, and how he's committed to progress - "I know we're committed to working with the Minerals Council here in New South Wales, and in particular, our friend Stephen Galilee about progressing some of those really important projects for our state." NSW Resources Minister Courtney Houssos also emphasised the importance of critical minerals to drive our economy forward and the wide range of critical minerals that NSW has to offer. It's clear to see we're in an exciting time in the industry and in our state, with 11,000 delegates from over 120 countries at IMARC hosted right here, building the future of mining in NSW. #IMARC2025

A great start to the largest IMARC yet! Our CEO Stephen Galilee attended the opening session this morning, kicking off an incredible week with a strong show of support from the NSW Government. Premier Chris Minns highlighted the importance of attracting global mining investment and it was a pleasure to meet many delegates alongside NSW Resources Minister Courtney Houssos who emphasised in her address to the Conference just how crucial mining and critical minerals are to our economy. With 11,000 delegates set to attend this year, we look forward to a week of industry collaboration, partnerships and growth right here in Sydney. #IMARC2025

"Mining is the economic back bone and the emotional heartbeat of our great country... once mining gets into your blood it stays." - Jake Klein, 2025 Winner of the Outstanding Contribution to NSW Mining Award. Jake Klein, Non-Executive Director of Evolution Mining is a visionary who has built companies from the ground up, created thousands of jobs and delivered immense value for countless stakeholders across Australia. Before Evolution, Jake co-founded Sino Gold, serving as President and CEO and building it into the largest foreign gold producer in China before its $2.2 billion sale in 2009. In 2011 Jake established Evolution Mining with a clear vision of creating a premier global gold company. What followed is one of the most impressive growth stories in Australian business. The company has deep roots in New South Wales with gold and copper mining operations near West Wyalong and Parkes that are sustaining hundreds of jobs, income for local suppliers, and lasting economic benefits for the regions. Congratulations again to Jake Klein, for the Outstanding Contribution Award to NSW Mining, sponsored by The Bloomfield Group

It is our great honour to present Jake Klein with the NSW Minerals Council’s Outstanding Contribution to Mining Award for 2025 for his enduring contribution to this industry. Each year we recognise an individual who has demonstrated inspiring leadership and performance over a sustained period… and that is Jake to a tee. Jake is best known as the founder and Chair of Evolution Mining, Australia’s second largest listed gold mining company. But Jake’s story didn’t start in mining. In the early 1990s, Jake moved to Australia from South Africa as a qualified accountant with little more than a thousand dollars in his pocket. He began his career at Macquarie Bank in investment banking. Those early years gave him a solid foundation and taught him building businesses requires determination, courage and the ability to adapt. In 2011 Jake established Evolution Mining with a vision of creating a premier global gold company. It’s now a top 50 company on the ASX with six operations, and is widely recognised as one of the world’s most efficient gold producers. Jake is a strong advocate about the future of mining, the need for greater productivity for Australia to remain competitive, and the next generation of talent in mining. Congratulations Jake, your work continues to grow our industry into a thriving force and a special thank you to The Bloomfield Group for sponsoring this prestigious award.
