Final days of taking part in the Local Matters jar at Grill’d Melbourne Airport. As part of Grill’d’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, each participating restaurant donates $500 monthly to three local organisations selected through customer voting. Customers receive a token with every burger purchase, which they place in the jar representing their preferred group. The organisation with the highest token count will receive $300, while the second and third placed groups will each receive $100. This initiative not only provides financial support to Safe Steps but also offers an opportunity to raise awareness of Safe Steps among thousands of customers in a high-traffic environment. So if you are flying through Melbourne airport be sure to check it out! #FamilyViolence #DomesticViolence #SafeSteps #CrisisSupport #endDV

Thank you to Merri-bek councillors for visiting Safe Steps. It was great to talk to Mayor Davidson, Deputy Mayor Politis, Councillor Bolton, Councillor Irvin, Councillor Abboud and Councillor Theodosis about the Sanctuary Model. The Safe Steps Sanctuary Model is an evidence-based crisis accommodation model for victims of domestic and family violence, that recognises the trauma and vulnerability of victim-survivors and provides them with a supportive haven where they can receive wrap-around support, personalised care and access to services. #SanctuaryModel #CrisisSupport #SafeSteps #FamilyViolence #DomesticViolence #MoreThanJustARoof #SanctuaryisSafety

In 2024-2025 Safe Steps had a growing impact. Our Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework data shows we completed 1,000 more risk assessments than last year. Of these assessments, 70% identified individuals who were at serious risk, or serious risk requiring protection - the two top highest risk categories. Happy Children’s Week! This week is a national celebration of children’s rights. It highlights the rights of children to thrive, learn, play and be heard, as set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Children’s Week celebrates the right of every child to enjoy their childhood. It is also a time to recognise and value children’s talents, skills and contributions. At the centre of the week is Universal Children’s Day. This day reminds us to uphold the dignity and rights of all children, especially those who face disadvantage or do not have access to the essentials for a safe, happy and healthy life. This year's theme is: Everyone should know about Children’s Rights You can access training and resources to ensure children you are supporting understand their rights and can give feedback.
