40 Years of dedication at Sutton Tools New Zealand Celebrating 40 years with one company is a rare achievement these days, so we were thrilled to gather everyone to honour this milestone for a very special member of our team. Congratulations to our Business Support Manager, Kay James! Kay is pictured below with some of our team members who have been with us for over 15 years (a few others were a bit camera-shy). Among this group, we have another 40-year veteran and one with an incredible 52 years of service. Sutton Tools Pty Ltd opened its doors to FBA members for National Family Business Day in this special Meet the Owner event. The energy was contagious, everyone proudly holding their NFBD25 signs while being welcomed by the Sutton family, enjoying a panel discussion, behind-the-scenes tour and a slice of cake! Peter Sutton set the scene with the story of Sutton Tools, its growth across Australia and New Zealand, its commitment to research and testing, and the guiding Sutton Way, a set of codified values that guide the business and its culture. The panel also featured Johanna Boland from ANCA Group and Daniel O'Sullivan from Abbe . Johanna spoke about her company’s history, its achievements and expansion into exporting. Daniel then shared the story of his family business, highlighting their product innovation, commitment to sustainability, and close work with other FBA member companies. They all also spoke about their love for FBA Forum Groups, all being participants themselves, Peter Sutton reflected on the value it brings, saying he 'felt fortunate to be part of one'. Facilitated by Catherine Sayer, FBA CEO, the discussion turned to succession and engaging the next generation. Panel members spoke candidly about the importance of involving younger family members early, Daniel spoke about the innovative way Abbe introduces the next gen through knowledge and awareness.
