This might be the best social ad we’ve made. A big story for us so far this year has been the €250mil EuroMillions win in Cork. The biggest ever Lottery win in Ireland. This social ad shows one of the ways we celebrated the win. The problem we faced was the problem every brand faces - the likelihood of your social ad being viewed for just a few seconds. We’ve been working with Amplified on their new Creative Testing tool to get a read on how much attention our ads are likely to get, per channel, per second. We won’t get viewed for 30 seconds but can we reach the upper limits of what’s possible? You can see the attention decay on one of the channels in the video. A slower decay than usual. It’s a strong performance and clears global attention benchmarks. There are a few reasons why I think it works. Hat tip to Andrew Tindall and the System1 work on the effectiveness of social ads. 🪝 Hook. It is intentionally shot as if from a passerby, flipping their camera up. ⭐️ Branding. It is well branded early through the Large Green Cheque and Logo, in context. 🧐 Incident. Something is happening. That’s a comically sized cheque, it’s never fitting in that small van. It’s fun. 🕰️ Length. It’s short, no long story arc.
