This week, WALGA President Karen Chappel AM and Deputy President Paul Kelly joined Acting Electoral Commissioner Dennis O’Reilly for a tour of the Western Australian Electoral Commission Vote Processing Centre. All completed Local Government Election ballot papers must be received by 6:00pm this Saturday, 18 October to be counted in the 2025 Local Government Elections. Last week, WALGA signed the five-year State and Local Government Agreement for the Provision of Public Library Services. Endorsed by State Council in July, the Agreement defines roles and responsibilities in the delivery of public libraries. It also provides the structure and framework for the delivery of the WA Public Libraries Strategy and future vision for public library services. The Agreement does not include funding arrangements for public libraries. WALGA will continue to advocate for increased public library funding.
