Proud to have partnered with AusNet and industry leaders on Australia’s transmission connected data centre - a milestone that sets a new benchmark for powering large-scale digital infrastructure.
In October 2024, AusNet successfully energised Australia’s first transmission-level connected data centre – a landmark moment for the industry and a proud achievement for our team. Located in Melbourne’s west, the data centre was directly connected to our 220kV terminal station via two underground HV cables, supported by a newly developed onsite substation. This pioneering project set a new benchmark for powering large-scale data centres with enhanced reliability, scalability, and efficiency – from initial load through to ultimate capacity using the one infrastructure footprint. A year later, the impact of this milestone continues to resonate. As data centres continue to scale up and demand for high-capacity, resilient energy infrastructure accelerates, the choice of the right partners is critical to meet our customer power needs and we’re very proud to have worked closely with Downer Energy & Utilities, Wilson Transformer Company, Jacobs, Taihan Cable & Solution and Daly's Constructions (Australia) Pty Ltd to lead the way in working on the innovative connection solution. 🎥 watch the video to learn more Thank you to our customers for believing in our service and product, and our suppliers for your expertise, commitment, and collaboration. Together, we’re powering the future of Australia’s energy infrastructure.🔌⚡️ #EnergyTransition #DataCentres #Transmission #Collaboration #Innovation #AusNet #Downer #Dalys #Jacobs #Taihan #Melbourne #Infrastructure #WeBringTheEnergy

Today on R U OK? Day, we are reminded of the importance of checking in with one another and supporting conversations about mental health and wellbeing. At Wilson Transformer Company, we value not only the work our people do, but also their wellbeing. Taking the time to ask a colleague, friend, or family member “Are you OK?” can make a real difference. It’s a small step that helps build stronger connections and a supportive workplace culture. A special thank you to Himal Pillay who generously took the time to visit our team today and speak about the importance of having these conversations with our colleagues, families, and friends. Let’s remember: 💛 Asking the question matters. 💛 Listening without judgement matters. 💛 Being there matters. Together, we can help create a safer and more caring environment for everyone. #RUOKDay #MentalHealthAwareness #EmployeeWellbeing #WilsonTransformerCompany

We're proud to see the first 350MW of the Waratah Super Battery now online - a major milestone for Australia’s energy transition and grid reliability. As one of the delivery partners on this landmark project led by Akaysha Energy and commissioned by the NSW Government, Wilson Transformer Company is honoured to contribute to what is now the world’s most powerful battery. Congratulations to all involved in bringing this incredible project to life - we're excited to see the full 850MW/1680MWh system operational later this year. #EnergyTransition ##WaratahSuperBattery #WilsonTransformerCompany #ProudlyAustralian
Akaysha Energy is very excited to announce that the first half (350 MW) of the Waratah Super Battery is online and performing its role as a ‘shock absorber’ for the NSW electricity grid in case of events like heatwaves and lightning strikes. As the world’s most powerful battery, the Waratah Super Battery has a physical size of 850 megawatts/1680 megawatt-hours. Bringing the first 350 megawatts of the Waratah Super Battery online is a moment of real pride for everyone Akaysha Energy and our delivery partners. This tremendous collective effort spans our global business units across delivery, engineering, commercial and legal, technical integration, grid modelling, software, operations and energy trading. Commissioned by the NSW Government with EnergyCo and delivered and operated by Akaysha Energy, the Waratah Super Battery will be fully operational later this year. Thank you to everyone who made ACES 2025 such a valuable event! We truly appreciated the opportunity to engage with both longstanding and new connections - the calibre of conversations and the depth of insight shared across the summit were outstanding. While the energy transition continues to evolve, one message remains clear: building an energy system that is affordable, secure and reliable will require a blended approach - drawing on the strengths of all technologies, sectors and stakeholders. It’s a huge task, and one that demands a whole-of-industry and economy-wide effort. But through continued dialogue, collaboration and shared commitment backed by getting the job done, we can help shape a more sustainable and resilient energy future. We look forward to continuing these critical conversations and working together to drive meaningful progress. At #WilsonTransformerCompany, we remain committed to partnering across the sector to help build a stronger, more sustainable energy future - together. #ACES2025 #EnergyTransition #WilsonTransformerCompany #ProudlyAustralian
