HSBC to Transfer Retail Banking in Sri Lanka to Nations Trust Bank PLC HSBC Sri Lanka has entered into a binding agreement to sell its retail banking business including accounts, credit cards, and retail loans of ~200,000 customers to Nations Trust Bank PLC (NTB) . This follows a strategic review by HSBC, which concluded that the best outcome for its customers and employees would be a transfer to NTB. Importantly, NTB has agreed to make an offer of employment to all HSBC staff supporting the retail business. 🔹 HSBC’s Corporate & Institutional Banking in Sri Lanka remains unchanged, continuing to support international clients, trade, and investment flows. 🔹 The transaction is aligned with HSBC’s global strategy to focus on areas of clear competitive advantage and growth. 🔹 For NTB, this represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen its position in retail and premium banking. Completion is expected in the first half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals .
