United Utilities
We are investing £24.5 million in Blackburn to strengthen the wastewater network and improve water quality in the River Blakewater. Construction is set to begin on a major underground stormwater storage tank, measuring 30 metres deep and 30 metres wide, with the capacity to hold 12.5 million litres of stormwater. The new tank will be connected via an underground shaft to an existing facility built in 2012, creating a combined storage volume of 15 million litres, equivalent to six Olympic-sized swimming pools. The project is expected to take around two years to complete and will play a vital role in managing the effects of population growth and the increasing frequency of extreme rainfall events linked to climate change, helping to reduce storm overflows and improve the resilience of the local wastewater network for years to come. https://lnkd.in/ewMAZh74 #blackburn #northwest #tank #stormtank #storagetank

Premier Roger Cook has today announced new laws to streamline approvals and slash red tape for priority projects and development precincts. The proposed State Development Bill will: ➡️ Ensure stronger interagency coordination ➡️ Allow mandated assessment timeframes for projects of strategic significance ➡️ Help attract the investment needed to drive decarbonisation and diversify WA’s industrial base If we want to secure real investment in the materials and technology required to reach net zero, we must move fast. These laws send a strong signal that WA is open for business and serious about establishing new future-facing industries such as critical minerals processing, green iron and hydrogen.
