There are many 10,000+ staff count businesses on Tanda. Our support team is based in Brisbane. We don’t sub-licence our payroll product, all of our products were built by our team in-house. That means there’s less moving parts, it all works well together, and we can support all of our core product code ourselves without being beholden to third parties. But the main reason Tanda is able to vend software this cheap is we don’t spend any money on bus advertisements or suing people. We just put that money back into making and supporting software.

NZ Tech Hiring – July 2025 A quick pulse check for anyone recruiting in the current climate. 📉 Perm hiring remains slow across a lot of the tech space — particularly mid-senior delivery, engineering and leadership roles. Most businesses are being cautious, prioritising BAU over transformation unless it's tied to revenue, risk or compliance. 🛠️ Contracting is ticking along, especially in areas like cloud, cyber, data, and large regulatory programmes. We're seeing demand for flexible resources, often scoped to shorter terms. 📊 The good news? There’s solid talent on the market. Some high-calibre PMs, developers, BAs and architects are open to work following restructures and programme wrap-ups. These aren’t the “active candidates” from job boards — these are proven operators who are open to the right opportunity. 🎯 But that’s the catch: they’re being selective. People are looking for clarity — hybrid expectations, meaningful work, and engaged leadership. This week, Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind determined that Kmart's use of facial recognition tech breached Australia's privacy law. This was an important moment. Kmart argued that it needed to act robustly to address the problems of theft and refund fraud in its stores. The Privacy Commissioner accepted this, but she also made clear that how companies like Kmart combat these problems truly matters. The core issues in this case are straightforward. First, Kmart's facial recognition system created something like a virtual 'police line up'. Tens of thousands of ordinary Australians, walking through the stores that used this tech, were effectively treated as suspects, even when they'd done nothing wrong. Second, facial recognition didn't 'add up' as a way of addressing Kmart's problem. There were basic things Kmart could do - like requiring customers who wanted refunds to bring a receipt for the products they claimed to have bought - and these wouldn't impact nearly as much on Australians' basic right to privacy. In other words, before adopting a radical measure like facial recognition to address things like shop lifting, companies like Kmart should first do the more obvious measures that wouldn't have a disproportionate impact on people's right to privacy. This case is a reminder that the Australian Government committed some years ago to update our Privacy Act to make crystal clear when facial recognition can and can't be used. This is more urgent than ever. The federal government has quietly launched a sovereign-hosted instance of OpenAI’s GPT-4o for use by the Australian Public Service (APS). The multimodal large language model was made available to select government agencies in recent months, according to a presentation published by the Australian Public Service Academy (APSA). The launch is one of several key artificial intelligence milestones reached across the Australian Public Service (APS) over the past six months, culminating in the formal commencement of a whole-of-government pilot program known as GovAI. Led by the Department of Finance, the program aims to fast-track AI adoption within the public service, provide access to AI tools for all agencies and reduce duplication of resources and investment. The program is currently in a closed beta phase with selected agencies but is expected to be expanded by November this year.
