MELBOURNE: Kane Constructions, in partnership with Development Victoria, is proud to celebrate a major milestone at the Twelve Apostles Precinct Redevelopment. With a visit from Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos,  we celebrated the top out of the Visitor Experience Centre. The topping out milestone reflects months of collaboration by regional partners, led by Otway Precast (Colac) and Plinius Engineering (Ballarat), whose structural concrete and steel works have shaped the Visitor Centre. The project is deeply rooted in supporting regional communities and businesses. Key highlights include: 15% of total project spend to date has been directed to Western District suppliers, boosting local employment and capability. Engagement of over 20 Aboriginal businesses and social enterprises, with 85% of our Indigenous spend commitment already realised. Current partners include B.A Road Services, FACADEX, Dardi Traffic & Labour, Pathway Plumbing and Wamarra Waste. The redevelopment showcases environmentally conscious design and regional craftsmanship, including rammed earth walls constructed by specialist subcontractor Earth Structures, highlighting sustainable building practices. Landmark Group Australia is bringing new energy to Edgecliff, lodging revised plans for two residential towers up to 18 storeys at 8-10 New McLean Street, right beside Edgecliff Railway Station. The proposal includes 246 apartments, 84 one-bed, 112 two-bed, and 50 three-bed, plus 281 parking spaces. Mandated affordable housing ensures the project reflects NSW Government aims to increase density near the soon-to-be revived Woollahra Station, with all homes within 800 metres of the precinct. Designed by fjcstudio, the new vision prioritises quality, sustainability, and inclusivity, continuing Edgecliff’s legacy of high-rise living that began in the 1960s. Today, we set out a national game plan to help the construction industry tackle workforce skills shortages that are holding Australia back when it comes to decarbonising infrastructure projects.   Infrastructure and buildings are one of our biggest contributors to emissions – responsible for nearly a third of Australia’s emissions and indirectly linked to more than half.   Decarbonising these projects – from roads and rail to buildings and bridges – will be absolutely critical to reaching Australia’s net zero target.   The Delivering Net Zero Infrastructure: Workforce Report released today on behalf of the Infrastructure Net Zero initiative, finds that only about half the workforce delivering Australia’s $213 billion five-year Major Public Infrastructure Pipeline are contributing to net zero outcomes – about 105,000 workers.   But even among this group, many lack the understanding and confidence on how to best decarbonise.
