This month Atturra consultants - Ashley Fonseca and Jonathan Souter took part in 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗜 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 in Adelaide. Working alongside Microsoft and industry peers, their team developed an AI-assisted compliance system designed to evaluate Defence ICT environments against the 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 (𝗜𝗦𝗠).   ✔️ Built on an Azure VM using 𝗔𝗜 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝘆, 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗚𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻   ✔️ Powered by a 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (policy, hardening, monitoring, crypto, and network)   ✔️ Automated compliance mapping and 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗦𝗣 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻   ✔️ Delivered a compliance view (Comply / Gap) with 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 🏆 Their solution earned 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 at the Hackathon and was among the top three projects invited to present at the 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 this week (link in comments). Australia's Office of Home Affairs has released its request for submissions on Horizon 2 of the 2023-20230 Australian Cyber Security Strategy. The Strategy establishes a framework for the government to take action to enhance Australia’s cyber maturity and preparedness over three horizons, aiming to make Australia a world leader in cybersecurity by 2030. Our vision is for a world where all people, businesses, and governments understand the risks and dangers of cyber attacks and data theft and can protect themselves. We are on a mission to a safer digital world. As the Australian peak body for cyber security, we welcome this call for submissions. How the cyber security industry has moved the bar (upwards) for gender-diversity in Australia  Thursday 16 October | 3:30–4:10 PM | Room 207  Dr. Shobhana Madhu and Laki Kondylas will share findings from a multi-year AWSN–RMIT study on gender diversity in cyber, highlighting what’s working, what’s not, and how we can continue to drive meaningful change across the sector. Growing Australia’s Cyber Workforce  Friday 17 October | 11:15–11:55 AM | Plenary Theatre  Jacqui L., Jakub Zverina (CyberCX), and @Luke McGrath (Department of Home Affairs) will discuss the work of the Executive Cyber Council’s Workforce Working Group, including the development of the Australian Cyber Workforce Playbook—a practical guide to building inclusive, future-ready cyber teams. Cyber security is no longer just a technical issue. It is a national priority. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is stepping into a broader role.
