GRDC has announced a $12M annual commitment over the next 10 years to streamline critical trade and market functions through the integration of Grains Australia and the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC) into a single entity working domestically and internationally across all grains. The integration will drive collaboration, improve co-ordination and deliver ongoing efficiencies across the key areas of classification, trade and market access, market information and insights, as well as innovation for the Australian grains sector. GRDC Managing Director Nigel Hart said the integration into one body under the Grains Australian banner was a logical, efficient move that would create a stronger national grains industry. “It makes sense to bring these agencies together, effectively combining the work being done to explore and understand emerging and current market needs, with critical ‘industry good’ activities such as classification, market access and market information,” Mr Hart said. “Ultimately this will streamline activities and ensure operations are aligned, delivering a set of ‘industry good’ services through all parts of the grain supply chain for the benefit of Australian grain growers and building our relationships with trade and market networks internationally.” Read more https://lnkd.in/gf3DZ3YJ #GroundCoverOnline #GRDC #GrainsAustralia #AEGIC

We can’t afford to put all our lobsters in one basket! This week I had the privilege of attending the Trans-Tasman Lobster Conference hosted by Seafood Industry Victoria Inc, a reminder of just how important global trade is for our seafood industries in both Australia and New Zealand. It’s fantastic to see China re-opening its markets, bringing renewed opportunities for our producers. But my message to the industry was clear: we cannot afford to put all our eggs, or in this case, lobsters, into the one basket. Diversification is critical. Markets such as India offer huge potential, and not just for lobster but for the broader seafood sector. With its growing middle class and appetite for premium produce, India could be a game-changer for our exporters. Unlocking these global opportunities requires more than just hard work from our fishers and farmers. It needs government support to open new markets, negotiate trade access, and back the industry with the right policy settings. Australia’s seafood is world-class. With the right partnerships, we can ensure it reaches tables in China and across Asia, the Middle East, and beyond — securing jobs, investment, and long-term growth for our coastal communities.
