Wrapping up an incredible week in Melbourne for our inaugural US Cyber Leaders Delegation to CyberCon - bringing US CISOs and cyber leaders together for an immersive experience of Australia’s cyber ecosystem. Across four days we explored what trusted, like-minded cyber collaboration really looks like: from briefings with cyber experts like Akash Mittal GAICD and Christina Keing, to roundtables with top Australian CISOs, including Jamie Rossato, GAICD, Ben Doyle, Sam F., Christie Lim GAICD, CIPM, CISA, CRISC, CDPSE, Vijay Krishnan, innovation showcases spotlighting cutting-edge Australian tech, and threat intel briefings from the great team at Australian cyber leader, CyberCX. Our delegates, included CISO and founder of SVCI - Silicon Valley CISO Investments, Anshu Gupta, CISO and former cyber executive for McDonald's, Kellogg Company, and Expedia Group, Stella Danso, 5x tech founder and former Microsoft CTO, Gerry Miller, and cyber leaders Mike Kosak of LastPass, George Prichici of OPSWAT and James Stanger of CompTIA shared insights on resilience, readiness, and what US enterprises look for in cyber partners - while forming the foundations for lasting collaboration across the Pacific. The conversation flowed (almost as fast as the meat pies disappeared 🥧🔥) - about scaling across borders, landing enterprise partners, and the momentum of Aussie-built AI and cyber solutions taking off in the US. That’s a wrap for #TheBatteryShow 2025 in Detroit! It was a great week full of new opportunities, serious dialogue and commitment. This week, our Team Australia booth (CSIRO, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) + 12 battery innovators) didn’t just attend, we made our case: Australia is ready for global partnership, investment, and growth in scalable energy storage. The delegation showed that Australia’s innovation is more than ideas - it’s implementable systems, testbeds, recycling, and integration. Traction was strong and it’s clear investors and customers are listening. We also reinforced a few critical structural advantages: • The Battery Breakthrough Initiative (A$500 million) is live, with applicants now seeking to scale domestic battery manufacturing using incentives, grants, and production support. • The Cheaper Home Batteries Program (A$2.3bn) is reshaping the base of demand, with ~30 % off the cost of eligible systems from July 2025 helping to anchor distributed storage markets. • Research & collaboration: programs such as the Australia-US Battery Research Exchange and ARC Training Centres for battery recycling are deepening innovation links and future-proofing capability. • Australia’s policy signal is stable, long-term, and consistent through the National Battery Strategy / Future Made in Australia framework, giving confidence to investors, partners and the global community. To our US and global partners: we’re serious about collaboration. Australia offers reliable policy, geographic synergies, strong R&D, natural resources, and now clear trajectories for scale. As #ClimateWeekNYC draws to a close, I’m reflecting on a week where Australia stepped forward with a clear message: we committed to our decarbonisation goals and we are open for business in the global clean #energytransition. It was a jam packed week, but a highlight for my team was our Australian #NetZero Business Reception, hosted by us at Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) with the support of the South Australian Government. We were honoured to hear opening remarks from The Hon. Joe Szakacs MP, South Australia’s Minister for Trade & Investment, Local Government and Veterans Affairs, and David Higgins, Division Head, International Climate and Energy at DCCEEW - both underscoring Australia’s new 2035 emissions reduction target of 62–70% and the policy measures giving businesses confidence to invest across the country. Our panel of speakers — Jason Heindel (AZZO), Naveed Amirzada (Venn Energy), Christine Devlin (Wollemi Capital), and James Schultz (GreenCollar) — brought powerful insights on how things are working on the ground: • How digital energy and electrification are reshaping Australia’s distributed energy landscape (AZZO). • The promise of combining renewables developments with land use solutions such as agrovoltaics to help scale decarbonisation while supporting communities (Venn Energy). • The vital role of carbon markets and land use in reaching net zero, where Australia is already a global leader (GreenCollar and Wollemi). This reinforced both the task and the opportunity that the energy transition presents Australia with, and importantly was in line with the 6 dedicated sector plans Australia released along side its NDC. The plans cover electricity and energy, industry, resources, transport, agriculture and land, and the built environment — each with clear strategies to decarbonise while driving new investment and jobs. This means: • Clean electricity will expand rapidly, supported by storage and transmission upgrades. • Industry and resources are shifting toward electrification, low-carbon fuels and cleaner mineral exports. • Transport will be transformed by EVs, charging infrastructure and low-carbon fuels. • Agriculture and land will reduce methane, scale carbon farming and expand natural sequestration. • The built environment will electrify and improve efficiency across homes and businesses. Together, these measures are designed to ensure a fair, orderly and investment-ready transition — giving global partners confidence that Australia is not only decarbonising domestically but also positioning as a reliable exporter of the clean energy products the world needs.
