UNSW researchers have discovered how bushfire smoke affects eye health, in a first-of-its-kind lab study which safely exposed people to smoke pollution. Their newly published study shows smoke can damage the eye’s surface and trigger inflammation, a finding that could help shape future treatments to protect our eyes during bushfire season.
