On Thursday, 9 October, we had the privilege of hosting an inspiring session dedicated to advancing research and care for children with rare diseases. We were honoured to welcome: 🔹 Prof. Casimir, representing the Belgian Kids’ Fund, explained how the foundation empowers young researchers to advance paediatric care through doctoral research. 🔹 Anne-Sophie Bruyns and Martin de Buyl shared the heartfelt story behind Arthur Forever, an initiative created in memory of their son to support children's health and well-being by funding medical research, hospital clowns, bereaved parent support groups, and therapeutic care. 🔹 Romain Alderweireldt presented the inspiring vision of the 101 Genomes Foundation, founded in memory of his son to accelerate genomic research. By leveraging cloud-based genomic data, the foundation aims to identify protective genes and drive progress in the fight against rare childhood diseases. These organisations are united by a mission: to improve the lives of children with rare diseases through research, innovation, and compassion. We’re grateful to our speakers for their dedication, and to everyone who joined us in supporting these vital causes. If you're curious to learn more about their missions: 🔹The Belgian Kids' Fund for Pediatric Research: https://lnkd.in/eJZGcksQ 🔹ARTHUR forever ASBL: https://lnkd.in/e8znwjHY 🔹101 Genomes Foundation: https://www.f101g.org/en/ To continue supporting these incredible causes, we’re organising a charity raffle in December to raise additional funds for these associations.
