About us
The International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) is an Organization that binds together all students worldwide that share a similar dream and ideals for Agricultural and the Related sciences. Since its inception in 1957, IAAS has played a significant role in transforming the Agricultural education world. This is manifested through its tireless effort exhibited through training and releasing to the different communities thousands of students and professionals with varying expertise that suit the biological sciences field. IAAS is a non-governmental youth organization independent of any International body, governmental or religious mandate, and no political affiliation. It derives its strength from general Agriculture, plant and Animal production, Agricultural Economics, Food Sciences, Forestry, Landscape architecture and Environmental Sciences. The IAAS body has over 10 000 students who make up over 150 Local Committee representatives of their Faculties in more than 50 countries worldwide. It has also endeavored to pattern with other Students’ Associations, governmental and Non Governmental Organizations to strengthen its operations. IAAS is the official partner of FAO, UNESCO, UNEP, IFISO, ICA, CSAYN, ISOHA, GACSA, GCA and YPARD.

Meet COP30 Youth Delegate: Kevin Valencia 🌟 Could you briefly introduce yourself and share a bit about your background? 🎤 I’m Kevin Valencia, an Environmental Engineer and youth delegate of IAAS (International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences). I work as a climate finance consultant, supporting projects linked to the GCF and promoting cooperation among financial institutions, funds, and youth organizations across Latin America. 🌟 What are your expectations for COP30? 🎤 I hope COP30 strengthens commitments on climate finance mobilization and enhances the active participation of young people in implementation processes as decision makers and also as executors. 🌟 What do you hope to achieve as a youth delegate? 🎤 I aim to highlight youth-led projects, foster partnerships between banks, funds, and companies, and lay the foundations for a youth climate fund that empowers transformative initiatives in local territories coming from disruptive youth ideas 🤝 Thank you, Kevin, for sharing your insights! Successfully completed the World Food Forum flagship event at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy! 🇮🇹 I would like to share some wonderful memories from our journey from The Green Hearts Students' Association to the World Food Forum, Starting from The Green Hearts Students' Association , we grew together and contributed to bringing IAAS Sri Lanka to life creating a platform for young agricultural students to connect, lead, and gain global exposure. Building on that foundation, today we are proud to have brought back the World Food Forum Sri Lanka Chapter , continuing our mission to empower youth in agriculture at an international level. 🌱✨ Throughout this journey, Chinthaka Karalliyadda (PhD) has been a constant source of inspiration guiding us not only academically but also showing us how to balance life, leadership, and extracurriculars. Kapila Chinthaka has always encouraged and guided for innovation, helping us translate ideas into practical action within initiatives and agriculture. We are also deeply thankful to IAAS Sri Lanka and IAAS (International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences) for giving us incredible international exposure and lifelong experiences that shaped our growth.
