  • Efficient Switching between Multiple Devices in the Intensive Care Unit

Selecting useful medical data from an excess of information is critical for decision-making at Intensive Care Units. Our paper discusses a system for allowing access to patient data from multiple devices and fast switching between these devices. A web-based implementation was used to enable extensibility and portability.

  • Bachelor Thesis - Navigation based on images for pedestrians with a visual impairment

The mobility of pedestrians with a visual impairment can be improved by everyday tools, like a gps, a computer and a camera. In this bachelor thesis, we tried to make an accurate location detection based on images taken by the pedestrian himself.

  • Master Thesis: Extraction and disambiguation of events from large news collections

    -

The goal of my master thesis is to automatically extract events from a large news collection (Mediargus). This will result in a more practical and useful view of these massive datasets.

To obtain this goal, I am testing different text-representations and clustering algorithms. Furthermore I also need to find objective and quantitative measurements in order to test the quality of the retrieved events.

  • Project Machine Learning: Learning to learn with a compound model

    -

Based on the paper "Learning to Learn with Compound HD Models" by Ruslan Salakhutdinov and Joshua B. Tenenbaum, we implemented a compound model combining the strengths of deep learning and topic models. Practically we made a model consisting of an autoencoder for automatic feature extraction and used LDA as topic model. This resulted in a model able to make a very compact and accurate representations of our training data (MNIST-dataset).
