Enova has secured approval to repower the Boldecker Land wind farm in Lower Saxony, replacing 10 Vestas V80 turbines with 10 Nordex Group N163 units for a total of 68 MW, enough to power 43,000 homes. Construction begins in Q2 2026, with commissioning in late 2027 In Saxony-Anhalt, Enova also reached financial close for the Neuferchau wind farm repowering. The site will upgrade from 8 older turbines to 5 Vestas V172 units, boosting output nearly 5x to 36 MW. Port of Waterford lodges planning for Offshore Renewable Energy capable terminal at Belview Port of Waterford has submitted a direct planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála for a purpose-built Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) terminal at Belview, following the recent granting of Maritime Area Consent (MAC) by the Maritime Area Regulatory Authority (MARA). The proposal includes a 250-metre extension to existing wharves with associated land reclamation, new operator support facilities (workshops, warehouses and offices), berthing pontoons, upgraded utilities including a replacement substation and underground services, roof-mounted solar PV and a dedicated 1.8-hectare biodiversity enhancement area. Designed to support projects in the Celtic Sea, such as Tonn Nua, the development would strengthen Ireland’s path to 7 GW of offshore wind by 2030, while creating high-quality jobs and opportunities for local SMEs across maritime, engineering, logistics and green technology. Italy’s national railway FS Group has signed three power purchase agreements with renewable energy company ERG covering the supply of 185 GWh/year from October. One contract has a 10-year term, and the others are for five years. The energy will be supplied by wind farms that are not subject to financial incentive systems.
