Listening, learning, and growing in partnership

RES’ core business principles align deeply with Indigenous values and their connection to the land and waters that span our globe. It’s how we operate as we continue to deliver power for good. We believe that Indigenous Peoples are our most important partners in realizing a future where everyone has access to affordable, zero-carbon energy. Across Canada, we are making progress, partnering with Indigenous Nations on renewable energy projects spanning multiple provinces.

Yet we know there is more to achieve. True success comes when Indigenous Peoples are involved as owners and stewards of their lands. In Canada, we are entering a period of transformational growth where Indigenous partnerships are central to our collective success.

Our inaugural RAP

Our inaugural Canada Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) serves as a roadmap for this journey. Developed collaboratively by our Canadian team with input from Indigenous partners, it establishes a new vision for what’s possible when Indigenous Peoples are true partners in building clean, safe and thriving communities for everyone. Guided by five pillars — Educate, Engage, Empower, Celebrate and Illuminate — our RAP emphasizes tangible actions and a commitment to getting it right. Each pillar represents a pathway to building long-lasting relationships grounded in respect, collaboration and mutual benefit.

Our commitment

We recognize that reconciliation is not an endpoint; it is a continuous journey. Our RAP includes a clear commitment to report on our progress in 2027 and 2029 and to evolve our plan in alignment with the priorities of our Indigenous partners. Inspired by the partnerships already taking root, we are committed to listening, participating and learning year-round. Together, we can create a cleaner, more sustainable and more equitable future for all Canadians.

Reconciliation focuses on repairing relationships with Indigenous Nations by acknowledging the harmful impacts of centuries of colonization, recognizing the inherent rights of Indigenous people, and partnering with Indigenous communities to build an inclusive, sustainable, and culturally diverse future. Achieving this vision requires each of us to act intentionally: listening, learning and empowering Indigenous Peoples.
