    Dragon Undocks, Crew-10 Departs Station for Earth Return

    The SpaceX Dragon carrying four Crew-10 members fires its engines after undocking from the International Space Station to begin its descent toward Earth on Saturday.

    At 6:15 p.m. EDT, NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, along with JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Takuya Onishi and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov undocked from the forward-facing port of International Space Station’s Harmony module aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.

    NASA Wallops Flight Facility Rocket to Carry University Student Experiments

    A sounding rocket carrying experiments developed by eight student teams is scheduled to launch from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on Tuesday, Aug. 12, for the RockSat-X mission. The Terrier-Improved Malemute rocket is expected to reach an altitude of about 100 miles (162 kilometers) before descending by parachute into the Atlantic Ocean to be recovered.     Crew-10 Proceeds Toward Undocking No Earlier Than Friday, Aug. 8

    NASA and SpaceX are proceeding toward return of the agency’s Crew-10 mission from the International Space Station. Mission teams are targeting undocking no earlier than 6:05 p.m. EDT, Friday, Aug. 8. For this undocking opportunity, splashdown is targeted at approximately 11:33 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, off the coast of California.

    Eight of 11 Expedition 73 crew members on the International Space Station enjoyed a light schedule on Wednesday following four busy days of departure and arrival activities for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-10 and Crew-11 missions. The other three orbital residents studied how the human body adapts to weightlessness, photographed crew operations, and maintained lab systems throughout the day.
