    I was a PhD student at the Neural Computing Research Group (NCRG), the leading European research group on Machine Learning at the time, founded by Christopher Bishop.

    I studied the online dynamics of learning in fully connected soft committee machines
    in the student–teacher scenario. The locally optimal modulation function, which determines the learning algorithm, was obtained from a variational argument in such a manner as to maximize the average generalization error decay per example.

    I was a member of a coalition with more than 50 institutions that helped society to understand and deal with the Covid-19 crisis in Brazil. We collaborated with Folha de São Paulo to monitor the epidemic progression across the country. We also provided analytical support to local government officials and to local media.
