Thank you to Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd. for their incredible generosity! To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the B.C.-based company hosted a charitable golf tournament, raising $50,000 in support of SIMPLIFY — an international clinical trial led by Dr. Robert Olson at BC Cancer – Prince George (Centre for the North). Building on the success of Dr. Olson’s earlier SABR-5 trial, SIMPLIFY is working to advance cancer care through precision radiation treatments that target tumours while protecting healthy tissue. This research aims to reduce side effects, improve outcomes and enhance access to care for rural and remote communities — all in a single treatment. With support from changemaking partners like Yellowhead Helicopters, the BC Cancer Foundation is proud to help advance world-leading innovations like SIMPLIFY, elevating the standard of care here in B.C. and beyond.

A little bit of rambling on our little local news station, but I'm proud of what our small but mighty Prince George BC Cancer team has done this last decade with support from BC Cancer Foundation. Our PG-led trials are progressing well: SABR-5 has reached 5 years follow-up, COMET-3 has only a few patients left to accrue, and SIMPLIFY is accruing rapidly as we expand from BC to Ireland, Calgary, and beyond. https://lnkd.in/gb3t6fe9

“We need hope in life because it’s what keeps us moving forward, even when the path is uncertain or difficult.” For siblings Ben Yeung and Jane Young, cancer has deeply impacted their family. Both their mother, Rose, and Jane faced breast cancer — but through it all, they found exceptional care and compassion at BC Cancer. Now, the siblings are proudly carrying on their parents’ legacy of giving back through Peterson Real Estate — the company their parents founded — and bringing hope to other families facing cancer. Until October 31, all donations to BC Cancer's Technology Transformation campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar, thanks to a generous $1 million commitment from Peterson Real Estate and the Yeung family. Your gift will be doubled to help bring new, state-of-the-art technologies to BC Cancer that will provide faster answers and better outcomes for patients across B.C. For her 10th birthday, Emma chose to give back in the most meaningful way — hosting a charity concert to support cancer care and research. Inspired by her grandmother’s survivorship and her great-aunt’s memory, Emma’s music raised an incredible $4,410 for the BC Cancer Foundation. Thank you, Emma, for celebrating your birthday with such generosity!

Carmen Hou recently marked the 8-year anniversary of her Stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis. Her cancer journey began after noticing lumps in her breast shortly after childbirth, which led to extensive treatment, including a clinical trial for a drug which she is still on. Today, Carmen is classified as having no evidence of active disease (NEAD). Carmen’s most recent scan was performed on BC Cancer’s new Next Gen PET/CT — a state-of-the-art technology acquired thanks to donor support. She is grateful for the Next Gen PET/CT’s impact on both her peace of mind and her care, emphasizing how the technology transforms cancer detection, reduces stress for patients and expands access across B.C., giving more families precious time together. The contributions of BC Cancer Foundation donors have allowed Carmen and her family to get back to the moments that matter most. From family picnics to reading bedtime stories, these are the everyday experiences that mean so much more to cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones.
