We are stoked too Anu Jolliffe !
✨ I'm stoked to be presenting in-person at the Coast Waste Management Association Hybrid Conference (Oct 8–10, 2025) alongside the incredible Laurie Gallant of MASH! ✨ This year’s CWMA theme is pure ’90s nostalgia, celebrating 30 years with sessions inspired by epic movies from 1995. 🎬 Our session is themed around The Net, starring Sandra Bullock as Angela Bennett, a software analyst whose identity is stolen and life upended by cybercriminals. 🎯 Our workshop, "The Net Meets Non-Profit Innovation: Driving Business Value for Non-Profits with Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI", dives into how AI and Microsoft 365 can empower non-profits to do more with less, unlocking new efficiencies, insights, and impact. Virtual spaces are still available, don’t miss out! 👉 Register at http://cwma.ca/events/ 👉 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/g_g5XU9Z 👉 See the full program: https://lnkd.in/gAydSqR7! 🎬 Speaking of The Net...if Angela Bennett’s employer had been using Microsoft 365 Copilot, she might’ve spent less time running from identity thieves and more time at the 🏖️ enjoying her 🍕. Just saying... #Microsoft365 #Copilot #AIinVictoria #AIForGood #NonProfitInnovation #DigitalTransformation #VictoriaBC

This is awesome! Way to go Recycle BC
Recycle BC x Science World: A New Two-Year Exhibit on Recycling We’re excited to announce the launch of a new two-year exhibit at Science World that brings BC’s residential packaging and paper recycling journey to life. Running from September 2025 to September 2027, the exhibit is designed to educate, inspire, and build trust — while encouraging families across BC to recycle at home and at depots. Through three interactive displays, children and families can test their recycling knowledge, explore what happens to the materials they put in their recycling bins, and see how plastics are collected, processed, and transformed into new things. This exhibit celebrates the collective effort of British Columbians and inspires the next generation to carry it forward. Many thanks to all involved on this project! Inventa, IXLabs, @SEQUOIA, SOMA Public Relations, many of our own staff and of course Science World for all they've done to help us bring this vision to life. Come visit us at Science World to play, learn, and see how together we can keep materials in circulation and build a stronger circular economy for BC. https://lnkd.in/gbfGXGBH

We’re excited to share the release of our Construction Plastics Initiative (CPI) Benchmarking Study! This report is the first national effort to measure plastics diversion at scale in the construction sector. Plastics from construction sites are one of Canada’s most overlooked waste streams, despite being a far greater source of plastic waste than single-use packaging. By analyzing data from 253 LEED-certified projects across seven provinces, this report establishes a baseline for plastics tracking and highlights major gaps in current practices. It also provides actionable recommendations for suppliers, contractors, and policymakers to increase diversion, strengthen reporting, and prepare for expanded federal plastics regulations. The District of Tofino has taken another step in its commitment to environmental stewardship, becoming the first municipality in Canada to adopt a bylaw prohibiting the sale of single-use plastic water bottles 1 litre and less. The amendment to the District of Tofino’s Single-Use Item Regulation Bylaw was formally adopted at the August 26, 2025, Regular Council Meeting. The regulation will take effect on April 22, 2026 (Earth Day), giving local businesses time to prepare for the transition. Exemptions apply for water bottles sold in packaged multiples or flats, as well as during declared local, provincial, or federal emergencies when the Emergency Operations Centre is activated, and during Water Conservation Stage 3. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗻 𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Tofino has long been a leader in environmental sustainability efforts. In 2019, the District introduced the Single-Use Item Regulation Bylaw and, throughout the years, banned single-use plastic items, including bags, straws, utensils, and polystyrene foam containers. This latest amendment expands the bylaw to cover plastic water bottles, a product often found in shoreline clean-ups and marine debris in the region and around the world. Plastic water bottles are among the most common single-use items that end up in landfills and waterways. According to the Ocean Legacy Foundation, more than 1 million single-use plastic bottles go missing each year in B.C. Since 2015, over 60,000 bottles have been recovered from Vancouver Island’s west coast beaches. Once in the marine environment, plastic bottles break down into microplastics, which pose serious risks to marine life and ecosystems. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲: www.tofino.ca/news

Keep up the great work Building Material Exchange (BMEx) - Vancouver Island. The examples are growing thanks to your matchmaking.
One of the most common things we hear is: “We don’t have much to give. We do our best to limit construction material waste, and what’s left is just a small pile of offcuts. No one would want it.” But here’s the truth: even the smallest pile of “leftovers” can have real value in our community. Across Vancouver Island, businesses, designers, artists, and community groups are turning excess or used construction materials into something new. ✨ A few examples: Rifflandia Entertainment Co. is rethinking how they build their festival installations by using fewer new materials and more salvaged ones. ReWood (https://lnkd.in/gsuSqVac), a volunteer-led initiative, transforms salvaged lumber into community garden infrastructure. Local makers and designers use offcuts and reclaimed wood for bespoke furniture and art pieces. Ray from I Used to Be a Pallet has been collecting Nexus Modular’s offcuts for over a year, turning them into one-of-a-kind woodworking projects. Just last month, Nexus diverted over 600 pounds (see photos!) of material through BMEx that Ray is now putting to use. It's proof that even “scraps” can be turned into something valuable. If you’re a contractor with a stack of materials you think no one could use, think again. You never know who’s out there looking for exactly what you have! ✉️ Get in touch with BMEx to find a match for your materials: [email protected] #CircularEconomy #WasteManagement #CircularConstruction #Diversion #VancouverIsland #Lumber
