Creating a Circular Supply Chain for Rare Earth Elements
About us
Cyclic Materials transforms yesterday’s waste into tomorrow’s critical materials. We’re creating a circular supply chain for the rare earth elements and critical materials that power our global economy, without compromising quality or environmental impact. Our proprietary two-phase process is unlocking value from discarded waste. Our MagCycle℠ technology simplifies the separation of rare earth magnets and critical metals from end-of-life electric vehicles, consumer electronics, wind turbines, and MRIs. Then our REEPure℠ technology restores those valuable materials back to their raw form, unlocking new revenue streams for metal buyers and feedstock companies. We are the only high-tech recycling company offering a scalable, efficient, and low-carbon recycling solution that complements mining on both quality and cost, and mitigates the risks associated with extraction. Cyclic Materials is setting a high bar for sustainable resource recovery. We’ve solved the barriers to creating a circular economy for rare earths, and our transparent, data-driven approach ensures the highest standards of sustainability and traceability, including rigorous Scope 3 carbon tracking and water efficiency. With USD $83.5M in funding, including USD $53M in Series B funding backed by partners like Microsoft and BMW i Ventures, we’re scaling our recycling infrastructure across North America and Canada to meet global demand. Cyclic Materials is establishing a more resilient, domestic supply chain for rare earths and critical metals, providing opportunity and value for global industries.

Cyclic Materials is thrilled to announce a pioneering partnership with global micromobility leader Lime to recycle electric motors from their Canadian and U.S. fleets 🛵 This agreement marks the first at-scale initiative in North America to recycle #RareEarthMagnets from e-scooters and e-bikes, a major milestone for the #CircularEconomy. These critical materials will be processed at our new commercial facility in Mesa, AZ, and our Kingston, ON site, helping valuable resources return into the supply chain. With less than 1% of #RareEarths recycled globally, this collaboration it’s a step toward a cleaner, more resilient future for urban mobility. We’re proud to be featured in the latest edition of The Wall Street Journal’s Climate & Energy newsletter, a must-read for #Cleantech leaders and professionals driving the #EnergyTransition. Huge thanks to Ed Ballard for his fantastic piece on “How to Get Rare-Earth Metals Without the Mining”, which perfectly captures the essence of our mission at Cyclic Materials and how we’re bringing this vision to life. By recovering critical materials from end-of-life electronics, we’re establishing a resilient and circular supply for #RareEarthElements, providing a faster alternative to mining. While the AI revolution has a huge impact on the datacenter world, our partnership with Sims Lifecycle Services, enables us to securely recycle the magnets from hard disk drives so that the #RareEarths can find their way back into the industry supply chain. 📰Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gcDYB_Pn

We’re proud to continue our journey with Microsoft's Climate Innovation Fund as they work toward their zero-waste goal! 🔁 At Cyclic Materials, we're committed to strengthening the supply chain for #RareEarths by recycling and processing magnets from end-of-life devices, leveraging our CC360 technology to recover the value of Hard Disk Drives' magnets used in data centers. With less than 1% of Rare Earth Magnets currently being recycled, our collaboration with Microsoft is a game changer to establish a resilient supply for #REEs and other #criticalminerals, helping address this global challenge across industries.
Rare earth elements are the backbone of the technologies shaping a sustainable future including electric vehicles and wind turbines, yet today, less than 1% are recycled. With China’s latest export controls on rare earth minerals disrupting global supply chains, securing these critical materials has never been more urgent. Microsoft's Climate Innovation Fund is committed to investing in advanced sustainability technologies that create new markets and solutions and ensure supply chain resiliency. This is especially important right now with the export controls because developing a new mine outside of China can take up to 15 years. But what if we could recover rare earth elements more efficiently through recycling? That’s where our investment in Cyclic Materials comes in. Their groundbreaking recycling process is revolutionizing the recovery of rare earth elements. By strengthening local supply chains and reducing environmental impact by 63% compared to traditional mining, they’re keeping critical materials in circulation—helping to build a more resilient and sustainable economy.
