About us
We believe in the transformative power of peer support. Peer support is emotional and practical support between two people who share a common experience, such as a mental health challenge or illness. A Peer Supporter has lived through that similar experience, and is trained to support others. Peer Support Canada connects peer supporters and organizations, helping share information and building capacity for peer support. We also offer Certification for Peer Supporters and Family Peer Supporters.

📈 One of the most powerful ways to celebrate peer supporters is by investing in their growth and recognition. Certification helps raise the standard of peer support in Canada — ensuring peer supporters are acknowledged for their expertise, and that organizations and communities can trust in safe, high-quality, and values-driven support. On Global Peer Support Celebration Day, let’s celebrate peer supporters not just with words, but by strengthening the systems that support them. 🌟 Learn more about certification: https://pscportal.ca/ #PeerSupportCanada #GlobalPeerSupportDay #LivedExperienceLeadership #PeerSupportMatters

💡 Peer supporters give so much of themselves to help others — and organizations can play a key role in supporting them back. Here are some meaningful ways to show up: ✨ Publicly recognize the impact of peer supporters. ✨ Provide ongoing opportunities for professional growth. ✨ Respect and encourage healthy boundaries and self-care. ✨ Support and create space for peer-led initiatives. Celebrating Global Peer Support Celebration Day is a start — but true recognition means uplifting peers year-round. 🙌 #PeerSupportMatters #GlobalPeerSupportDay #LivedExperienceLeadership #CelebratingPeers

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We honour Survivors of residential schools, the children who were murdered, and the families and communities whose lives were forever altered. But we must also confront a harder truth: colonialism is not just in the past—it continues today through systemic racism, inequities in health care, overincarceration, land dispossession, and the silencing of Indigenous voices. As a peer support community, we commit to: ✨ Listening to and amplifying Indigenous voices. ✨ Acknowledging the ongoing harms of colonial systems. ✨ Practicing solidarity rooted in truth, justice, and healing. This year, Peer Support Canada staff will be honouring the day by listening to Unsettled: Journeys in Truth and Conciliation, a podcast that explores what truth and reconciliation mean in practice. We invite you to join us. Reconciliation cannot happen without action. 🧡 #TruthAndReconciliation #NDTR #EveryChildMatters #PeerSupport #Decolonize
