🎯 Strategy in Action: Rock Tech positions its permitted refinery in Germany fit for Global Competitiveness Over the past months, our team has been working to identify opportunities to adapt the Guben Converter project to reflect international market conditions and fundamentally strengthen its competitiveness. This strategy is now showing measurable results. Following the successful reduction of operating costs (OpEx) by 23 percent in September, we have reached another important milestone: Investment costs (CapEx) for the Guben Converter have decreased from €730 million to €680 million – a reduction of €50 million. 💰 These optimizations are the result of optimizing plant design, storage capacity, and process technology to drive efficiency and reduce costs. The cost reduction creates the conditions to compete internationally and establish a solid foundation for financing our EU strategic critical raw materials project. ✅ 🤝 Strategic Partnership with Global Technology Leader This strategy is also exemplified by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SCT (Sichuan Calciner Technology). The signing took place during a high-level state visit, when CAO Lijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Party Secretary of Chengdu during a delegation visit in Berlin. SCT is a globally recognized engineering expert in the field of lithium refinery plants and has contributed to the design and construction of over 60 lithium converter trains. By collaborating with SCT, we’re driving towards greater efficiency and cost reduction, especially in the pyrometallurgical stage. 🔧⚡ 🚀 Our focus remains clear: We are consistently implementing our strategy – internationally competitive, efficient, and ready for the future of the battery supply chains in the EU and Canada. #RockTechLithium #Guben #Lithium #BatteryMaterials #Competitiveness #Sustainability #ElectricMobility #EUIndustry #EnergyTransition #CRMA

Raw Material Security in Ontario: Where there's a (Political) Will, there's a Way! 🌎A Look across the Pond… We often highlight the challenges we're tackling in Germany – with our fully permitted lithium refinery in Guben. But just as central to our story is Canada, and the province of Ontario, where two of our major projects are advancing. 🤝 Raw Material Security is not only Market Mechanism – It's also a Political Goal Our Mirco Wojnarowicz recently provided insights into the differences between Germany and Ontario. Together with Hugh Samson (RBC Capital Markets) and Jamie Levy (Generation Mining), he discussed in Energy and Mines how the Ontario region can secure its supply of critical raw materials. The key insight: Raw material security doesn't emerge automatically only through market mechanisms – it is also a political goal. 📊 Fast-Moving Markets meet long-Term Planning Horizons It typically takes about 15 years for a mine to go from exploration to production. Large industrial facilities, like our lithium refineries, also require several years from concept to commissioning. During this time, a lot can happen. A price crash in a particular raw material can significantly dampen investment appetite in a long-term project. "That's precisely when government support would be most valuable," Mirco explains. 🔝 Ontario Shows how it's Done Through funding programs such as the CAD 500 million Critical Mineral Processing Fund ("CMPF") and a predictable regulatory process, the right priorities are being set. It’s not only the market shaping the development of new value chains, but also policy deliberately deploying the tools needed to make them real. 🍁From Global Division of Labor to Regional Resilience Just a few years ago, it was usual to stretch value chains around the globe. But besides a massive carbon footprint, you primarily have one thing: uncertainty. International geopolitics, trade conflicts and the effects of the pandemic have clearly demonstrated this. Regionalization is the key. The shorter the distances, the more stable the supply chains. And that's what we're building in Ontario. Our lithium refinery in Red Rock, is designed to produce up to 36,000 tons of lithium hydroxide annually. And not far from there, we're working on developing our own raw material deposit: the Georgia Lake mining project close to Beardmore. 🧐Awareness is Rising – But is the Willingness, too? In Canada and Europe, the awareness of raw material security growing. But so far, only one side of the Atlantic has understood that it takes decisive political action to create reliable framework conditions and ensure planning and investment security. Locally sourced lithium: An important step – but only half the journey The German federal government is backing domestic lithium mining. Economics Minister Katherina Reiche announced that several projects will be reviewed, with awards to be decided later this year. That’s an important signal. Given the sharply rising demand for lithium for batteries and e-mobility, domestic resource extraction is absolutely necessary. 👍 It’s good to see Germany recognizing this. ⚙️ But raw material alone won’t get us there. Lithium in the ground is not yet lithium in the battery! The decisive question is: Who will refine the material into battery-grade lithium hydroxide? 🌍 Without building our own refining capacities in Europe, we remain dependent - on international supply chains, third countries, and price volatility. Around 90% of lithium hydroxide from hard rock is currently produced in China. Domestic mining won’t change that if we have to export the material for processing afterward. 🏭 We need local, European value chains: from raw material to battery-grade input! 🔒 Only then can we secure real supply security, create future-proof jobs, and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in the transformation. The raw material is the start. Processing is the key. Link to the article in the comments. #Lithium #EnergyTransition #ValueChain #BatteryRawMaterials #SupplySecurity #EMobility #CRMA

Europe Focuses on Regionalization The EU Commission is planning comprehensive protective tariffs on steel and intends to tie public contracts to "Buy European" rules in the future. Industry Commissioner Stéphane Séjourné puts it succinctly: "Europe has no choice but to find a new balance." What is emerging here is more than trade policy – it is a clear trend toward regionalization. And this trend is crucial for the future of our economy. Why? 🔑 Because local and resilient supply chains are the key to remaining capable of action even in times of crisis. Dependence on global markets has repeatedly confronted us with challenges in recent years – whether through geopolitical tensions, supply bottlenecks, or volatile markets. At Rock Tech Lithium, we are pursuing exactly this approach: We are building regional value chains 🔗 – in Europe and North America. Our lithium hydroxide converter in Guben will supply the European battery industry directly on-site. 🔋 Transparent, reliable, and independent. Because one thing is clear: Supply security begins on your own doorstep. 🏭 Link to the article in the first comment.

#Canada #ondernemerschap #investeren #impact

🔋 Rock Tech Lithium at CEN CAN Central Canada’s Resource Expo 2025 Our Georgia Lake Project General Manager, Cam Andrews, outlined how we’re building a resilient lithium supply chain in Ontario and Europe – from mine to converter. What it’s about: 🛡️ Supply security: Building local conversion capacity instead of relying on imports. 🧭 One blueprint, two continents: Our fully permitted Guben Converter (DE), where we have already invested 45 million euros, is the template for Red Rock (ON). 🔗 Ontario integration: Georgia Lake as the resource base, Red Rock as the refinery — aligned with provincial industrial investments. ♻️ Circular approach: Planned use of recycled feedstock and industrial reuse of by-products. Why it matters: 🚗 Battery-grade lithium is the bottleneck for emobility. 🏭 Local production boosts competitiveness, sustainability, and planning certainty for OEMs and cell makers. 🤝 Partnership-led: Working with First Nations, policymakers, and industry for responsible growth. 🎥 Watch Cam’s full talk: 👉 Rock Tech Lithium: Red Rock Converter & Georgia Lake Project Power Ontario’s EV Future https://lnkd.in/eaKREjir #RockTechLithium #GeorgiaLake #RedRock #Guben #CriticalMinerals #Lithium #BatteryMaterials #EV #Ontario #Canada #CircularEconomy #SupplyChainResilience

Our takeaways from the Fastmarkets European Battery Raw Materials Conference 2025 Our CEO Mirco Wojnarowicz experienced three insightful days at Convento do Beato – with strong discussions on financing, regulation, and the next phase of the lithium market, including his participation in the panel “Futures and Pricing Mechanisms: Defining the Next Chapter for Lithium Markets” ⚙️📈 What stood out for us: 🌍 All key global players were on site – real dialogue across the entire value chain is happening. 🤝 Commitment to Europe remains intact: industry, investors, and technology partners want to build local capacity. 🔁 The trend is obvious: regionalization. Resilient value chains are built locally – through processing and recycling on the ground. One thing also became clear: the industry is looking closely at Europe. While other regions are advancing their value chains with determined support and funding programs, Europe remains cautious. ⏱️ Time is short to deliver credible proof points that we not only decide, but also execute. This now requires a clear and reliable commitment from policymakers. 🏛️ Thank you to the organizers, fellow panellists, and everyone for the constructive conversations. 🤝 Collaboration across the entire value chain is becoming ever more important – we’re ready. 🚀 #RockTechLithium #BatteryMaterials #Lithium #SupplyChainResilience #Europe #CRMA #Guben #CircularEconomy #EnergyTransition
