Watch the full video of this potash tailings pile expansion at a salt mine in Germany → https://lnkd.in/d6CZ4V9E The Potash tailings pile at K+S Minerals and Agriculture GmbH Werra plant site needed expansion as it reached maximum capacity. A hydraulic separation system was installed to prevent water seepage between the extension and the existing heap. Due to the steep, mountainous terrain, reinforcement was required before installation. Solmax addressed logistical challenges by using off-road vehicles and transporting materials up the slope with an excavator. The heaps were sealed with GSE HD. #GSE #Mining

From award-winning case studies to high-level visits and impactful presentations across the globe, here’s a glimpse into some of our recent highlights: 👷♂️Thomas Labda and Gilbert Smigielski attended the 30th Dresden District Heating Colloquium, where we presented our solutions for the decarbonization of the heating sector. Our large-scale pit thermal energy storages (PTES) were in focus, as well as our Efficient Pit research project in Rechlin, where new approaches to seasonal thermal energy storage are being developed and tested. Last week, Roland Wittmann, Frank Boisten and Florian Freudenthaler represented Solmax at the Fachsektionstage Geotechnik in Wuerzburg. Gernot Mannsbart also held a presentation on sustainable construction with geosynthetics and showcased our MIRAFI HMi solution - an innovative, recyclable geotextile especially designed for subgrade stabilaztion. We’re already looking forward to the 2027 edition in Baden-Baden! Muhammad Mahathir, Shi May Bong and Nurul Ain Syuhada Mohd Fauzi attended #ICWR 2025, the 6th International Conference on Water Resources 2025. We even received a visit from Akmal Nasir, Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation. Andrew Lister, René Laprade, Brock Nesbit, and Laurent Darveau, ing. MBA attended #GeoManitoba 2025 (78th Canadian Geotechnical Conference and 9th Canadian Permafrost Conference) which took place in Winnipeg. Norhisam Omar, Muhammad Hadi Fadhillah, Kurniawan Syahrir, Mario Basri, radite sylvaranto, Reza Jakakusuma, rinanda yendika and heru prasetyo attended Mining Indonesia 2025 in Jakarta, where they promoted our GEOTUBE dewatering, MIRAFI H2Rx and GSE Leak Location solutions. Preedidhep Anujorn, Bhubehj Terum and Rawipas Khunpakdee attended the recent International Symposium on "Towards Holistic Roads and Beyond" held at the Department of Rural Roads in Bangkok, where The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport visited our booth. Garrett Eller, PE and Adam Pierce represented Solmax at the 54th Annual STGEC (Southeastern Transportation Geotechnical Engineering Conference) where they highlighted our PROPEX erosion control solutions. Archell Pablo, Sairille Faye del Rosario and donaydan ayada attended PHILCONSTRUCT Mindanao 2025 where they showcased our solutions from moisture management and soft ground stabilization in roads, to hydraulic and marine works. Daniel Schertz attended the WCHA 2025 LDG Highway Conference where he showcased our MIRAFI geotextile solutions. Colin Lim, Kelvin Hor, Noor Hafizah Abdul Halim attended the WMAM 20th Anniversary Annual Conference. And finally, we made a strong mark at #EUROGEO8 - winning the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS)'s Best Case Study award (photocredit to Barbara Grossmann) and showcasing our expertise through insightful paper presentations, valuable client meetings on the booth, and inspiring exchanges with industry peers. #WEARESOLMAX

Engineering the Future: Solmax University Austria Debuts in Linz Last week we welcomed 50 curious engineers and project partners to the first Solmax University in Austria, which took place in Linz. Over two days, both Solmax experts and external speakers shared valuable insights into current industry standards and the challenges shaping the future of our field. The presentations covered topics such as norms, quality assurance, dam construction, mechanically stabilized earth, recycling and decarbonization. The participants also had the chance to tour our Linz production site to look behind the scenes and experience innovation in action. But the event wasn’t just about learning - our evening program included a nostalgic ride on the historic Pöstlingberg tram and a memorable dinner at the iconic Pöstlingbergschlössl. As a special highlight: local artist Rudolf E. Mitter created quick portraits of our guests on site - a unique souvenir to take home and cherish. A big thank you to everyone who made this event a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
