TIFF is deeply appreciative of the Government of Canada’s significant and continued investment in the creative industries through Budget 2025. We’re grateful to Prime Minister Mark Carney, Minister Steven Guilbeault and Minister François-Philippe Champagne for their leadership and recognition of the creative sector as a key builder of Canada’s identity and future. In line with TIFF’s mission to transform the way people see the world through film, this commitment ensures that Canadian stories will continue to be seen and celebrated across the country and the world.

October saw a flurry of acquisition deals for #TIFF50 Official Selection films, including World Premiere titles like Steven Soderbergh’s THE CHRISTOPHERS (NEON), John Early’s MADDIE’S SECRET (Magnolia Pictures), and Chandler Levack’s MILE END KICKS (Sumerian Pictures), plus Lucía Aleñar Iglesias’ FIPRESCI Prize–winning FORASTERA (Grasshopper Film) and Sophy Romvari’s Best Canadian Discovery Award–winning BLUE HERON (Janus Films; #TIFF50 North American Premiere). The Festival’s Midnight Madness programme has also seen several high profile acquisitions of World Premiere titles, such as Curry Barker’s buzzy horror film OBSESSION (Focus Features) and Kenji Tanigaki’s action film THE FURIOUS (Lionsgate). TIFF continues to expand its presence as a North American hub for buying and selling screen-based projects with TIFF: The Market, funded by the Government of Canada and supported by Major Supporter Telefilm Canada, launching next September during #TIFF26. https://lnkd.in/dNUx8UrP
