About us
Waga Energy upgrades landfill gas into grid-compliant Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), also known as “biomethane”. Thanks to its patented WAGABOX® technology, Waga Energy recovers the methane emitted by the breakdown of organic matter contained in the waste to inject it directly into the gas grid. The result of ten years of R&D within Air Liquide and Waga Energy, the WAGABOX® technology combines membrane filtration and cryogenic distillation to separate the methane from the other components of the landfill gas. It provides high-quality biomethane that is injected directly into the gas grid. The purification units are fully automated, they operate 24/7 while being under remote computerized supervision. Waga Energy deploys this solution through a dedicated business model. Waga Energy purchases landfill gas from landfill site operators, funds the construction and operation of WAGABOX® units, and sales biomethane to energy utilities. 23 WAGABOX® units are in operation in the world, combined, they have produced over 100,000,000 Nm3 of RNG. 13 more WAGABOX® units are under construction in France, Spain and Canada. Since 2017, all the WAGABOX® units have avoided the emission of 190,000 tons of eqCO2 in the atmosphere. Waga Energy's headquarters are located in Grenoble (France), a world-renowned center for high-tech innovation with a reputation for leadership in gas engineering and cryogenics. Waga Energy also has subsidiaries in the United States, Canada and Spain.

The autumn tour goes on for our Waga Energy colleagues! After the Sardinia Symposium, our team is now in Spain for the Ategrus Conference on Controlled Landfills. Always proud to see our experts sharing their insights and presenting how #WAGABOX® technology turns landfill gas into renewable biomethane. 👏 Thanks to Giulia Barina and Ander Morello for representing Waga Energy and promoting the energy transition!
📍Lleida, Spain After an inspiring week at the Sardinia Symposium 2025, I’m glad to attend the Ategrus conference on Controlled Landfills in Lleida with my colleague Ander Morello. Even though landfilling still represents 47% of waste treatment in Spain (vs 43% recycled in 2023), positive change is on the way with the new Orden789 and 834. Today’s visit to the site Can Mata at Els Hostalets de Pierolais a great opportunity to present our Wagabox® unit to the conference participants and show how landfill gas can be turned into renewable biomethane! #WagaEnergy #Biomethane #LandfillGas #CircularEconomy #WasteManagement #Spain #Wagabox

Good way to end the week with some news from our team Giulia Barina, David Agudelo-Romero, Edoardo Trottini and Andrea Baldini in #Sardinia! 🇮🇹 Another great opportunity for Waga Energy to showcase its expertise and exchange with colleagues from academia, industry, and beyond — all working together toward energy transition solutions. A big thank you to the Sardinia Symposium for bringing together so many experts to discuss such important topics!
Great wrap-up from the Sardinia Symposium 2025 in Italy! 🌍 This week, I had the pleasure to introduce and moderate a panel on “Best Practices for Optimizing Landfill Biogas Management and Maximizing Its Contribution to the Energy Transition” — joined by top industry and academia experts Antoine L., Odile OBERTI, Giulia Barina, and Alexandre Cabral. Thanks to all participants for the lively discussion and valuable insights! I also had the opportunity to present and co-author a paper on a feasibility study for a landfill gas-to-biomethane upgrading plant in Manizales, Colombia, together with Giulia Barina and Edoardo Trottini. Glad to connect with colleagues from academia, industry, and technology providers working on methane mitigation, renewable energy, and circular economy solutions. Looking forward to the next edition in 2027! Para saber mais sobre as atividades da Waga Energy no Brasil, leia nosso último artigo: https://lnkd.in/ea5ZcP6d ************************************** 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹: 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 More and more, Brazil is recognizing that waste can become a resource. According to national energy targets, the country aims to reach 252 MW of energy recovery capacity by 2040. Across #Brazil, thousands of dumps and nearly 800 landfills emit methane-rich biogas — a major driver of climate change. Captured and converted, that same methane can become a powerful source of clean energy. At Waga Energy, we’re ready to help make this ambition a reality. Building on 10 years of innovation, our unique purification units transform landfill biogas into RNG — a clean, local, and reliable energy source. Our patented #WAGABOX® technology is already operating across the world, including the United States and Canada, delivering concrete results in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and producing renewable energy at industrial scale. Brazil is ready for action — and Waga Energy is ready to deliver. Together, we can turn today’s waste into tomorrow’s clean energy.
