President and Chief Executive Officer at William Osler Health System

Last night, I was pleased to join our William Osler Health System teams in welcoming members of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons - CARP Brampton Chapter for their annual Town Hall. We were joined by MPP Graham McGregor and participated in meaningful discussion on Peel Memorial’s redevelopment, important tips for visiting Osler Emergency Departments, and seniors’ care services. Thank you to Osler Foundation for also sharing updates on important milestones for our growing community. The perspectives and experiences shared by the CARP community are invaluable. Their voices help shape how we continue to advance our Mission of innovative health care delivered with compassion.

  • September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. Yesterday, members of our Inclusion & Belonging and Health Justice teams attended City of Brampton's Every Child Matters flag raising. The flag symbolizes the lives of Indigenous children and recognizes the significant loss of language, culture and social connectedness experienced by Indigenous communities due to the impact of residential schools. Join us as we reflect on our awareness and understanding of Indigenous Peoples’ experiences and move towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation at Osler.

  • We recently introduced a Safe Sleep Best Practice Guideline (BPG), helping to educate families on safe sleep practices to ensure they are informed and confident about creating a safe sleep environment for their baby.   This past summer, we hosted Humber College Polytechnic nursing students for their community placement to support implementing Safe Sleep BPG in the larger context of the holistic care provided to our NICU patients and families.   “To support parents of premature and medically complex infants, our team developed a centralized, mobile-friendly hub. The site consolidates NICU educational resources on breathing, feeding, caring for baby, growth, and development, and preparing for home, making information accessible and easy to navigate. To further support families, we created a Parental Learning Log Checklist that organizes key learning tasks by milestones and a Milestone Beading Activity paired with a train-themed poster to celebrate infant progress while fostering parent confidence and emotional connection. Together, these tools promote family-centered care, discharge readiness and an empowering NICU experience."   As a longstanding affiliated academic partner, our collaboration with Humber Polytechnic symbolizes our common vision to achieve excellence in clinical education, professional nursing practice and scholarship to enhance the health of our community. #BPSO
