Few things are as inspiring to me as meeting entrepreneurs who are quietly shaping the next generation of cybersecurity technology. Last week I met Bruno Couillard, CEO of Crypto4A Technologies. Bruno isn’t new to this space—he was a member of Quantum Industry Canada • Industrie Quantique Canada, worked as a cryptographic evaluation engineer at Communications Security Establishment Canada | Centre de la sécurité des télécommunications Canada, and contributed to the cryptographic modernization program there. This also isn’t his first entrepreneurial journey in deep cybersecurity technology, and what he’s building now is impressive. Crypto4A Technologies, based in Ottawa, designs and manufactures quantum-safe, crypto-agile Hardware Security Modules (HSMs). To put it simply: encryption as we know it (RSA, ECC) won’t withstand the arrival of quantum computing. Their hardware is built to resist those future threats while giving organizations the flexibility to adapt as cryptographic standards evolve.
