"the report highlights growing trends in workload repatriation, security concerns, and the rise of private cloud as a cornerstone for IT modernization. With a focus on balancing performance, control, and cost efficiency".

La Caisse (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec)
We have completed the privatization of Innergex and are announcing the mobilization of a syndicate of Québec and international investors—including Investissement Québec, Desjardins Gestion internationale d’actifs, Fondaction, and 14 Swiss institutional investors —who share our vision. “Innergex is a Canadian renewable energy leader and plays a key role in the energy transition. To shift into a higher gear, the company needed shareholders aligned with its long-term potential, protected from stock market cycles. That’s why we brought together a syndicate of Québec and international investors who share this vision,” said Emmanuel Jaclot, our Executive Vice-President and Head of Infrastructure. “This privatization immediately provides Innergex with increased financial agility to accelerate the development of large-scale projects. It is a reflection of Innergex’s potential and Québec’s leadership in the energy transition.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ekBBWGYR

Few things are as inspiring to me as meeting entrepreneurs who are quietly shaping the next generation of cybersecurity technology. Last week I met Bruno Couillard, CEO of Crypto4A Technologies. Bruno isn’t new to this space—he was a member of Quantum Industry Canada • Industrie Quantique Canada, worked as a cryptographic evaluation engineer at Communications Security Establishment Canada | Centre de la sécurité des télécommunications Canada, and contributed to the cryptographic modernization program there. This also isn’t his first entrepreneurial journey in deep cybersecurity technology, and what he’s building now is impressive. Crypto4A Technologies, based in Ottawa, designs and manufactures quantum-safe, crypto-agile Hardware Security Modules (HSMs). To put it simply: encryption as we know it (RSA, ECC) won’t withstand the arrival of quantum computing. Their hardware is built to resist those future threats while giving organizations the flexibility to adapt as cryptographic standards evolve. That combination of expertise, entrepreneurship, and building advanced security infrastructure locally shows that Canada can do more than export IP—we can create and scale our own technologies, even tangible hardware, with global impact. So, if you're thinking about your post-quantum encryption strategy, you want to know what's on the market to help your clients, or you want to contribute to develop Canadian critical infrastructure for the information age, you might want to contact Bruno Couillard. #postquantumencryption #cryptography #quantumcomputing #deepcybersecurity #deeptech #hardwaretech #entrepreneurs #entrepreneurshipstory

McGill wants to “rebrand”? Really? According to the Montreal Gazette’s Andy Riga McGill University is seeking a branding agency to “reposition how McGill is perceived by key audiences (students, government, donors, public) over a multi-year period.” The new “positioning/messaging must be as effective in French as it is in English” and should “illustrate how we are a true bridge between generations, between research and community, between Quebec and the world.” I don’t want to sound picky, but as Ken Steele points out in the piece, McGill already has “one of Canada’s strongest brands.” It may need to reposition. It may need to tailor its message for different audiences. But let’s not call that a rebrand. Wikipedia defines rebranding as “a marketing strategy in which a new name, term, symbol, design, concept or combination thereof is created for an established brand with the intention of developing a new, differentiated identity in the minds of consumers, investors, competitors, and other stakeholders. Often, this involves radical changes to a brand’s logo, name, legal names, image, marketing strategy, and advertising themes.” That’s not what McGill needs. It doesn’t need to reinvent itself. It needs to tell its story, to reconnect. And it’s one heck of a story: from good, to great, to not so great… with the potential to be essential again in everyone’s mind. But only if it remembers what made it matter in the first place. Harold Simpkins https://lnkd.in/ey5qgYUc

Edify Energy
This week we are proud to celebrate a landmark day in Edify Energy's journey. A conditional sale agreement has been signed for Edify to be acquired by global investment firm La Caisse (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec). This is a great outcome as we look to supercharge our business and take our 11GW pipeline of renewable energy projects to the next phase. As well as providing capital, the deal will help deliver two near-term hybrid solar and BESS projects, totalling 900 MW / 3,600 MWh, for offtake partners Rio Tinto and the Commonwealth of Australia. Since its founding in 2015, Edify's talented team has helped create one of Australia’s leading renewable energy companies, with innovation at its core. We pioneered the country’s first utility-scale solar and battery storage project in 2018 and have gone on to deliver 11 projects across NSW, Queensland, and Victoria, totalling more than 1.1 GW of capacity. Edify Founder and Executive Chairman John Cole said: “The agreement with La Caisse is a pivotal moment for Edify, providing balance sheet strength to seriously ramp up Edify’s speed of execution of firm dispatchable green generators. "I am so very proud of the business that Edify has become and the exceptional team that creates and delivers the solutions to meet and exceed the needs of our customers and the grid." This is an exciting new chapter in Edify's history, allowing us to accelerate our mission to support Australia's transition to a clean energy future.
