One of the key features of every satellite 🛰️ is communication to the planet’s surface🌍 or to other spacecrafts. This function is implemented via steerable optical or Radio Frequency communication systems. A paper from Beyond Gravity experts explains the development and qualification of an 📡antenna pointing mechanism from us. Due to its modular design, the mechanism is suitable for a wide range of applications, from low Earth orbit to deep space missions.

We have doubled our production area in Switzerland for solar array drive mechanisms - increasing our production capacity fivefold 🛰️ 🛰️ The mechanisms from Zurich are used to orient satellite solar wings toward the sun, ensuring optimal energy generation. “We can now produce 200 mechanisms for aligning solar arrays per year instead of the previous 36. This year alone, we have already delivered more units than in the past three years combined”, says Oliver Grassmann, Head of Division Satellites. For more, read this report in SpaceNews 👉 https://lnkd.in/dJX-6PMb At the same time, we are already working on the next generation of solar array drive mechanisms: a two-axis mechanisms that further increases energy yield ☀️ Media Release: https://lnkd.in/dGX5BJ88

We’re happy to support the #NextGeneration of engineers 🚀 As an industry partner, we’re excited to work with the Mechanical Engineering students from Ostschweizer Fachhochschule. They are tackling the challenge of automating the manual process of attaching an aluminum honeycomb structure to our rocket hulls — a real-world task that gives them hands-on experience in production #engineering. Many thanks for visiting our Emmen production site!
Bleiben Sie dran! ✨ #ostschweizerfachhochschule #wowissenwirkt #maschinentechnik #Entwicklungsprojekt

One year ago, the European planetary defense mission Hera was launched 🚀 The spacecraft with its solar wings from Beyond Gravity is still on the way to its target binary asteroid system. There, it will perform post-impact measurements following the world's first successful test of planetary defense by NASA's DART 🛰️ spacecraft in 2022. The NASA satellite crashed into the asteroid on purpose, thereby changing its course and exemplifying a possible way to protect Earth from an incoming asteroid. In November 2026, Hera will reach the target asteroid system. To learn more about the European Space Agency - ESA Hera mission, visit: https://lnkd.in/eu6qK8YY https://lnkd.in/eXKFXNZB More about NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Mission): https://lnkd.in/d_NtC2AK By the way: Just a few days ago, the European Space Agency (ESA) spotted an asteroid that flew past Earth at an altitude of just 428 kilometers—comparable to the orbit of the International Space Station. However, the asteroid posed no threat as it measured between 1–3 meters. Such small objects rarely cause damage 🌌 https://lnkd.in/ep_vShMD Image credits: ESA - S. Corvaja / ESA #Space #Astronomy #ScienceCommunication #NearEarthObjects
