💡Have you ever wondered what it takes to organise a quantum computing hackathon? Last month, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina - مكتبة الإسكندرية organised and hosted Egypt’s first-ever national quantum computing hackathon. And what better way to learn how to organise your own than by hearing about their experience firsthand? Check out our latest video to discover more about the hackathon in Egypt and what goes into organising one yourself!👉 ✍OQI’s Hackathon in a Box is a resource toolkit developed by OQI to empower the global organisation of quantum computing hackathons with an SDG focus, especially in regions with limited access to the technology. TIME has chosen the #LHC as one of the 25 most iconic inventions from the past 25 years. Since beginning operations, the LHC observed the highly sought-after #HiggsBoson in 2012 and has discovered a bestiary of exotic hadrons. Today, it continues to probe ever deeper into our understanding of the building blocks of our Universe, known as the #StandardModel. Last week, our colleague Maria Alandes Pradillo was awarded the Hidden Figure #Award 2025 in the Non-Profit category, presented by TechFace.ch - Build Your Best Career In Tech. Maria has been an active member of the Women in Technology (#WIT) community since 2016. WIT is a grass roots community at CERN that supports initiatives promoting gender equality and equal opportunities. Maria launched the WIT mentoring program and has been also very active in outreach activities, designing workshops that open the doors of #STEM to young children. Maria has also promoted spaces for visibility and collaboration. She has helped turn good intentions into real opportunities. Her work reflects a wider commitment within CERN IT to advance women in STEM, a commitment also visible in the department’s strong presence at the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit in Warsaw earlier this year, where a larger delegation hosted an exhibition booth and took part in panels and workshops. We proudly congratulate Maria for the prestigious award and the whole WIT team for their hard and precious work! #GenderEquality
