Research, education and outreach across departments and fields to answer the energy challenges of today and tomorrow
Info
The Energy Science Center (ESC) aims to facilitate the deployment of an environmentally friendly, reliable, low risk, economically viable and socially compatible sustainable energy system. The ESC enhances cooperation between ETH Zurich, industry, government, and society on energy related issues, offering a platform for nourishing the exchange of information between the engineering sciences and the social sciences as well as for directing joint projects. The ESC synergistically combines key expertise in various disciplines to address large-scale problems successfully and to form flagship projects. These programmes will be large, financially intensive projects that have a visibility far beyond ETH Zurich and should promote energy research to a large extent.

Energy Science Center, ETH Zurich hat dies direkt geteilt
Join us on 26 October 2025 at Treffpunkt Science City as Christian Schaffner, Director of the Energy Science Center, ETH Zurich, explores what it will take to secure a reliable, affordable, and climate-friendly energy future for Switzerland. From electrifying our cars and homes to expanding renewable power through solar and wind, investing in smart grids and energy storage, and strengthening international cooperation, the path toward a sustainable energy system is clear, but it demands bold action and collective commitment. 🔹 How can we make Switzerland a global leader in renewable energy once again? 🔹 What innovations and collaborations will power the transition? Let’s turn today’s uncertainty into tomorrow’s energy solutions. Please note, the event will be in German.
