Meet Your Future Employer at EPFL 🚀 Last week, more than 130 EPFL students took part in an inspiring event featuring Claude Nicollier, Andrew Kane (entry level career coordinator), and other representatives from the European Space Agency - ESA.   The session provided students with valuable insights into career opportunities at ESA, complemented by Claude Nicollier’s thoughtful presentation on his experience and perspectives on space exploration. A big thank you to SXS- Space Exchange Switzerland for this fruitful collaboration and to Claude Nicollier for motivating the next generation of space enthusiasts and innovators 🌍✨

#MeetCCTC – This week, we are pleased to introduce Ilya Eigenbrot, the Project Coordinator for #EuroTeQ! Since joining the CCTC in March 2025, Ilya has been deeply engaged in the European EuroTeQ project and more specifically in the EuroTeQaThon competition. Over several months, he coached and guided three PhD teams, helping them get fully prepared for the final stage, which took place this June in Eindhoven! His role in 3 key missions: - Supporting students in developing and presenting their ideas for EuroTeQaThon - Developing and running transversal skill workshops for students - Mentoring the student teams before and during the EuroTeQaThon competition What he loves most about his work: Meeting lots of students from different backgrounds and learning from them 🎓🤝 His superpower? He can fix nearly anything mechanical/electromechanical/electronic, and has even been invited to Australia to fix a piece of equipment! 🛠️✈️ Fun Fact: Ilya has a very large collection of lasers 🔦✨ *** #MeetCCTC – Cette semaine, nous avons le plaisir de vous présenter Ilya Eigenbrot, Coordinateur de projet pour #EuroTeQ ! #MeetCCTC – This week, we’re introducing Helena Kovacs, our strategy architect for transversal skills! Helena first explored the underbelly of EPFL as an education researcher at Center for Learning Sciences LEARN - EPFL, where she spent 4 years before joining #CCTC in 2023. With her expertise in teaching, learning, and transversal skills, Helena now turns academic insights into action – helping EPFL strengthen skills development across the entire institution. Her role in three key missions: 👉 To design, implement, and assess a transversal skills framework for EPFL, with strategic involvement from every stakeholder 👉 To work directly with students, teachers, service staff, and collaborators to create a strong EPFL-wide support for holistic education 👉 To unapologetically advocate for transversal skills, including documenting institutional progress, and conducting research so that EPFL – and beyond – can learn from what works (and what doesn’t) What she loves most about her work: Strategising – finding ways to bring everything together coherently so all people involved are engaged, while achieving EPFL’s goal of delivering high-quality education 🧩 Her superpower: Context is everything. Helena has an uncanny ability to instantly map out social and educational issues with clarity 🗺️ Fun fact: Agreeing with Judith Butler and quoting RuPaul: “We are all born naked and the rest is drag” – Helena sees sociology, politics and perfromativity in everything – the way we walk, talk, interact (and dress) is all part of a performance shaped by society. And noticing this every day keeps her endlessly amused.

#MeetCCTC – This week, we’re introducing Aurélie Secrétan-Klaye, our Academic and Career Advisor ! Arriving at the end of 2007, when the Career Centre —later to become the #CCTC — was created, Aurélie actively contributed to developing career guidance and professional integration services for students. She quickly established tools to support young graduates in their transition to employment, including Industry Round Tables, workshops, individual counselling, and more. Her role in three key missions: - Supporting students by clarifying their skills and interests while taking the job market into account. - Designing and leading workshops to explore participants' aspirations, skills, motivation, and meaning of work. - Developing and coordinating events such as the “Industry Round Tables”, where alumni share their professional experiences. What does she like most about her job? 👉 Listening to and analyzing requests and finding meaningful solutions 💡 Her superpower? 👉 Guiding like a compass to help each person find the right direction for their goals 🧭 Fun Fact  👉 She has sailed on water and on sand, but she hasn’t yet tried “sailing on rails.”  Next challenge? ⛵️ *** #MeetCCTC – Cette semaine, nous vous présentons Aurélie, notre  Conseillère en #orientation et insertion professionnelle! Arrivée fin 2007 à la création du Centre de carrière, qui deviendra le CCTC, Aurélie a contribué activement au développement des prestations d’orientation et d’insertion professionnelle des étudiant·es. Elle a rapidement mis sur pied des outils pour soutenir les jeunes diplômé·es dans leur passage à l’emploi : tables rondes industrie, ateliers, conseil individuel… Son rôle en 3 missions clés :  - Accompagner les étudiant·es en clarifiant leurs compétences, leurs intérêts et en tenant compte du marché du travail. - Concevoir et animer des workshops pour explorer les aspirations du consultant, ses compétences, sa motivation et son sens du travail. - Elaborer et orchestrer des événements, comme les « Tables Rondes Industrie » où des Alumni partagent leur expérience métier, en travaillant en réseau avec la communauté EPFL. Ce qu’elle préfère dans son job ?  👉 L’écoute et l’analyse de la demande et la recherche de solutions qui donnent du sens 💡 Son superpouvoir ?  👉 Guider, telle une boussole, pour donner le bon cap correspondant à l’objectif de chacun 🧭 Fun Fact  👉 Elle a pratiqué la voile sur l'eau et sur le sable, mais n’a pas encore testé le plaisir du « train à voile » sur rails. From behind the scenes at the #CCTC, Regina masterfully coordinates events that bring students and companies together. Presentations, workshops, recruitment days, escape games… she’s everywhere, creating real opportunities for #internships and #jobs 💼🎓 Always “on the run” with her signature rolling suitcase, she turns any lecture hall or open space into a dynamic meeting point between talent and recruiters. Her role in 3 key missions: 📍 Helps companies plan events that match their hiring goals, while making sure they’re useful and inspiring for students 📍 Handles all the logistics and promotion, always with a smile 📍 Keeps everyone connected – from internal teams to employers and students – so everything runs smoothly What does she love most about her job? Meeting professionals from all kinds of industries and watching them chat with students – who always show up curious, motivated, and super professional. Her superpower? Staying cool under pressure, handling the unexpected with grace, and always wearing a smile! Fun fact: You’ll spot her by her rolling suitcase, always ready to turn an empty room into a buzzing event! Depuis les coulisses du CCTC, Regina coordonne avec brio les rencontres entre étudiant·es et entreprises. Présentations, workshops, journées de recrutement, escape games… elle est sur tous les fronts pour vous proposer des opportunités concrètes de stage et d’emploi 💼🎓 Toujours « on the run » avec sa valise à roulettes, elle transforme chaque auditoire ou espace du campus en lieu de rencontre dynamique entre talents et recruteurs. Son rôle en 3 missions clés : 📍 Conseiller les entreprises qui nous contactent pour concevoir des événements de recrutement alignés avec leurs objectifs — tout en gardant en tête ce qui est le plus utile et inspirant pour les étudiant·es 📍 Coordonner toute la logistique et la promotion avec efficacité et bonne humeur 📍 Faire le lien entre les équipes internes, les entreprises et les étudiant·es pour que tout roule parfaitement. Ce qu’elle préfère dans son job ? Rencontrer des professionnel·les de secteurs variés et assister à leurs échanges avec les étudiant·es, qui participent avec curiosité et sérieux — comme de véritables jeunes pros en devenir ! Son superpouvoir ? Anticiper l’imprévu, garder le cap même en pleine effervescence… et toujours avec le sourire ! Fun fact : On la reconnaît à sa valise à roulettes : toujours prête à transformer un espace vide en événement réussi. Un peu comme Mary Poppins… mais version logistique événementielle 🌟

The #EuroTeQ journey continues! Last week, two #PhD candidates from EPFL, Ayush Agarwal and Navadheer Yalamanchili, joined peers from across the EuroTeQ Engineering University alliance for the Ignite Bootcamp at IESE Business School in Barcelona — an immersive four-day experience focused on turning innovative concepts into viable and successful entrepreneurial initiatives. A few words from one of our participants: "It was a truly transformative experience. Over four days, I learned how to shape deep-tech sustainability ideas into real-world business models through interactive sessions, case studies, and insights from experienced entrepreneurs and investors. I particularly liked the case study discussions, which introduced key business models in an engaging and practical way. They helped me understand how to structure a business plan and communicate the value of a technology-driven idea to potential stakeholders. Overall, the bootcamp broadened my perspective beyond my scientific background and sparked a deeper interest in entrepreneurship. Collaborating with peers from across Europe was an enriching learning experience and in just a few days, I made some lasting friendships that I’ll truly cherish. I’m grateful to EPFL, EuroTeQ, and IESE for fostering such an inspiring and practical learning environment where sustainability meets entrepreneurship." — Navadheer A heartfelt thank you to the #IESE team — Mar Martinez, PhD, Belén B., and Roger Singleton Escofet, PhD — for the outstanding organization, for bringing together inspiring teachers and professors, and for designing such a rich and valuable programme. In her role, she juggles numbers, files, schedules, and emails daily — all with flawless organization and a smile to match! Her role in 3 key tasks: 📅 Managing team calendars, meetings, and logistics 🧾 Overseeing the administrative and budgetary follow-up of our projects 🙌 Being a key point of contact for internal coordination and team support What she loves most about her job? 👉 Finding practical solutions and making sure everyone has what they need to move forward smoothly 😊 Her workplace superpower? 👉 An (almost) bulletproof sense of financial precision — without ever losing her smile… or a comma! When it comes to numbers, she’s always ready to dive in 🔢 Fun Fact: 👉 Just like in alpine hiking, every step counts when dealing with numbers. Her mission? To make sure all #EPFL students – Bachelor, Master, and PhD – have access to meaningful development opportunities 🚀 Her role in 3 key missions: 🌱 Advocating for transversal skills as a cornerstone of the professional identity of EPFL graduates  🤝 Building bridges between students and our internal and external partners 💡 Strengthening CCTC’s support in career engagement across the EPFL community What does she enjoy most about her job? 👉 Designing and teaching courses where students develop real, applicable skills — and seeing them put those skills into action in meaningful projects! Her superpower? 👉 Making things that seem impossible… happen! Joining the CCTC at the beginning of 2024 as Project Officer for Education in Transversal Skills and Sustainability, Adélie Garin has recently moved on to another department at EPFL to take on new challenges! We wish her all the best in this new adventure 🎉 Adélie made a significant contribution to the design and implementation of programs and opportunities aimed at increasing cross-curricular competencies for sustainability in curricular and extra-curricular at EPFL 🌱 What did she enjoy most about her job? 👉 Seeing the students learn new skills useful for their future and the planet’s Her superpower? 👉 Coordinating a course for… 1865 students! Fun Fact: 👉 Most of her clothes are homemade *** Arrivée début 2024 au sein du #CCTC en tant que Chargée de projet pour l’éducation aux compétences transversales et à la durabilité, Adélie Garin a récemment rejoint une autre section de l’#EPFL pour relever de nouveaux défis ! Following up on last week’s post about EPFL’s participation in the #EuroTeQaThon 2025 EuroTeQ Engineering University at Eindhoven University of Technology, we're happy to introduce the three #PhD teams and their innovative projects developed in collaboration with our challenge partners: GoodMetal (with Logitech): A blockchain-based traceability solution ensuring metals like lithium, copper and nickel are sourced and processed according to ethical and environmental standards — using IoT, satellite data and third-party verification. Treeple (with Pro Natura - Agir pour la nature, partout!): An urban forestry decision-making tool that uses satellite data and predictive models to identify optimal planting locations and species, maximizing impact on biodiversity, heat mitigation and urban well-being. ATHENA (with WWF): An AI-guided knowledge transfer platform designed to reduce onboarding inefficiencies by capturing and delivering critical organizational know-how through an intuitive multimedia interface. Congratulations once again to #GoodMetal for their first-place award, and to all teams for their outstanding work and dedication 👏 We’re already looking forward to next year’s edition!
