🇪🇺 Last week, Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) and Dr. Borys Budka, MEP united leaders from across policy, finance, and industry at the European Parliament in Brussels for “Digital Finance and Industrial Transformation for a Competitive Europe.” The event brought together voices from across the European ecosystem — including the European Commission, European Investment Bank (EIB), financial regulators from France and Poland, and leading innovators from across the industry - demonstrating the collective drive to turn Europe’s digital ambitions into tangible competitiveness. The discussions also showed why policy work led by Committees like ITRE remains one of the most important places for innovation to take shape in Europe where industrial ambition and digital transformation truly meet. It was a pleasure to hear these themes reflected in the keynote of Dr. Borys Budka, MEP, a standout contributor to Europe’s evolving digital finance future. Thank you to our speakers: Dr. Borys Budka, MEP; European Parliament ITRE Committee | Dr. Joachim Schwerin, European Commission | Abraham Takom, European Investment Bank (EIB) | Marianne J., Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) – France | Mateusz Włodarczyk, Polish Financial Supervision Authority | Isadora Arredondo, Hedera | Matthew Osborne, Ripple | Nilixa Devlukia, GBBC | Nicolas J., Cardano Foundation | Michalis Sotiropoulos, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) | Ami N., Zodia Custody | Bart G., Euroclear | Reagan Cook, Taxbit | Philippe Redaelli, Kaiko | Victoria Jahn, 21X | Emma Joyce, GBBC | Dimitrios Psarrakis, The Wharton School | Emma Todd, MMH Technology Group | Ioana S., CryptoUK | Adrian Matak, GBBC | Przemyslaw Macholak | Zuzanna Tatara #DigitalFinance #Web3 #Blockchain #GBBC #EU

Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) hat dies direkt geteilt
I’m sometimes still asked, “Is blockchain real?” Running research at Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC), I say, “Yes! I see so many #blockchain use cases! All the time, in all industries!” I love seeing how this industry moves so fast, building the most impactful solutions. The best way to show this is with real examples that speak for themselves. Blockchain at scale can change many aspects of the human experience. Like with any innovation, we have an obligation to use it responsibly, to ensure the common good. At GBBC’s 8th Blockchain Central UNGA at the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF), I moderated a panel on “Blockchain for Humanity: Solving Real-World Problems” with Marta Belcher from Filecoin Foundation, Cecilia Kushner from NYCEDC, and Jonathan Perri from Ripple. Thank you Dino Cataldo Dell'Accio for hosting us and sharing your insights on #quantum. We talked about how: 💸 #Stablecoins are shaping how digital money flows – across borders and currencies, from humanitarian aid to mainstream commerce 🎒 NYC Node is NYC’s 1st investment in blockchain infrastructure, providing an applied learning opportunity for #CUNY students and faculty 🔒 Secure and resilient data exchange, with decentralized storage, can protect human rights and facilitate cultural and scientific preservation 🌎 At the GloCha Global Challenges Action Network #UN HQ Panel on Local Action for Global Challenges, I was honored to provide an overview of #Web3 Digital Public Infrastructure examples – from #identity, #climateaction, traceability & #supplychain, financial services, digital money & #payments, and #security for data exchange. Thank you Miroslav Polzer & Alexey Shadrin for the wonderful work you are doing. Key takeaway - the “next big thing” has always been with several emerging technologies working together. The most promising web3 developments that can change the world involve the convergence of blockchain, #AI, #tokenization, digital assets, and more. Most recently, I also visited and spoke to innovator hubs in Chicago, New Hampshire, and Atlanta, where I was impressed by the local entrepreneurial spirit that is so important for a country like the United States. More updates to come! 📖 How do all these examples come together? Our “101 Real-World Blockchain Use Cases Handbook” is just a start: https://lnkd.in/et4tCf2q 🌟 Fun fact: The first OG use case is from the work of W. Scott Stornetta & Stuart Haber (co-inventors of foundational blockchain technology), and we can see it in every Sunday’s print version of the New York Times. The journey to document these innovations led to the pleasure of meeting them.

🌍 Last week in Washington, D.C., Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC), along with IDB Lab and Owl Explains by Ava Labs 🔺, convened a high-level roundtable to explore the future of digital money and cross-border payment systems. From the role of stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and CBDCs in global trade, to the crucial need for interoperability across blockchain and traditional networks, thought leaders from across the public and private sectors unpacked the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Throughout the discussion, we shed light on the evolution of financial markets and public-private infrastructure, regulatory guardrails and alignment across jurisdictions, and how frameworks, including the recently released Capital Markets Risk Mitigation Framework (RMF) for regulated financial institutions, can guide responsible innovation in digital money and cross-border payments. Learn more about the Capital Markets RMF here: https://lnkd.in/gevpGRHX A sincere thank you to our co-hosts Sergio Navajas, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Lab, and Lee Schneider, Owl Explains by Ava Labs 🔺, as well as our members and community (tagged in comments) who underscored a shared commitment to efficiency, building trust, and inclusive payment rails for the global economy. #WashingtonDC #Blockchain #Payments #Innovation #digitalassets

While my amazing colleagues, Emma, Nilixa, Dimitrios, Adrian, were in Brussels for Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) European Parliament event, I ventured in-country to Barcelona for my first-ever European Blockchain Convention 🇪🇦 What an incredible experience - and what an honor to share the stage with Dr. Khushboo Khullar (Lightning⚡️Ventures); Pratin (White & Case LLP); and Emilie Allaert (Standard Chartered & GBBC Luxembourg Ambassador). 📢 GBBC Response to FCA CP25/25 – Discussion Chapters: Consumer Duty, Conduct of Business, and Access to Redress. Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) has submitted its response to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)’s Consultation Paper CP25/25, addressing the Discussion Chapters (6 & 7). These sections explore how existing FCA Handbook rules, including the Consumer Duty, Conduct of Business (COBS), and Product Governance (PROD), should apply to cryptoasset activities. 🔍 Key points from our response: • Support for applying the Consumer Duty in full, with proportionate guidance. • Agreement that PROD rules are not workable for decentralized or issuer-less assets. • Support for disapplying Distance Marketing (COBS 5) in favor of Duty outcomes. • Endorsement of a proportionate approach to stablecoin promotions and risk warnings. • Recommendation to ensure FOS preparedness and definitional alignment across UK frameworks. We commend the FCA’s measured approach to integrating cryptoassets within existing rules and look forward to continued engagement on implementation.
